Many people avoid wearing white things because the slightest imperfections are immediately visible on them, any spot is noticeable.
Each housewife has her own rating of effective means for preserving the white color of linen:

  1. Aspirin tablets . Crushed tablets are mixed with warm water until smooth. The resulting slurry is applied to the yellow or gray spots pointwise, left for a while, then the aspirin is washed off, and the clothes are washed in the usual way.
  2. Saline solution . At 2 tbsp. l. salts take 1 liter of cold water. Linen is soaked overnight and washed in the morning in a machine or by hand.
  3. Lemon juice . White items of clothing are placed in a concentrated solution of lemon juice or citric acid for 10 hours. The higher the concentration, the less time is spent on soaking.
  4. Boric acid . Take 1 tbsp. l. boric acid per 1 liter of water, use this solution for bleaching hosiery. The socks are kept in the liquid for about 2-3 hours, then washed in the machine on the “delicate wash” setting.
  5. Starch . White tulle curtains and thin lace details of clothing are left in a solution of starch and water. Dissolve ½ cup of starch in 700 ml of cold water, bring to a boil over low heat, and pour the resulting mixture into 3 liters of water. The laundry is thoroughly rinsed in the prepared liquid.
  6. Laundry soap. Yellow or gray marks on clothing are thoroughly washed with a bar of soap, left for several hours, then washed using powder.

Basic rules of whitening

Sweat and dust are absorbed into the fibers, causing the fabric to turn yellow. Such stains are difficult to remove, so clothes should be washed after 1-2 wears. Traces of tea, coffee, wine, and juices must be washed off immediately - stubborn stains are more difficult to remove.

Do not use chlorine bleach to wash white items: the product may cause the fabric to become thinner. If you need to bleach delicate materials, do not apply the product directly to the clothes - first you need to check the effect of the chemical on the lining.

Do not soak clothes with iron hooks, zippers, or rivets: they oxidize and leave rust marks. It is better to wash such items by hand at 30–40˚C, turning them inside out. After rinsing, wring out the fabric and blot with a terry towel - this will reduce the risk of rust marks.

Do not wash different types of fabrics at the same time. Cotton cannot be washed with wool and synthetics, otherwise it will take on a gray tint.

Temperature conditions for washing white items

Observing the correct temperature conditions is of great importance when washing white items.
Observing the correct temperature conditions is of great importance when washing white items. Hand washing involves using warm water, but in a machine wash you can change the settings depending on the structure of the fabric.

Before placing in the drum, sorting is carried out:

  • for silk and lace, set the temperature from +30 to +40 °C, set the mode to “delicate” or “hand wash”;
  • cotton, linen and other natural fabrics can withstand temperatures from +65 to +90 ° C with the established “basic” mode;
  • for synthetics, temperatures up to + 65 ° C are suitable;
  • wool is washed at temperatures from +40 to +45 °C using the “manual” mode.

Removing deodorant marks

It is better to remove traces of deodorant immediately after wearing. Wash items made from natural fabrics in cool water. Dry outdoors in the shade. This will avoid the appearance of yellow streaks.

Washing in hot water is quite a risky business. But this will help return the white color to the clothes. This method is most suitable for cotton products.

Before carrying out manipulations, look at the label. It should indicate the maximum temperature for washing.

Preparation of a mixture based on powder, soda and salt:

  1. If you are going to wash shirts or T-shirts in the machine, then choose a temperature setting of 60 degrees. Add a dose of powder to the tray, as well as a spoonful of salt and soda. This product is not suitable for delicate fabrics.
  2. You can cook pasta. To do this, take 50 milliliters of water and 4 tablespoons of soda. Mix thoroughly and then apply the mixture to the stain using a brush. Leave for 40-60 minutes. After the time has passed, wash the product and dry it at room temperature. The procedure can be repeated.

Whatever method is chosen, you first need to conduct a reaction test on an inconspicuous area of tissue. It is also more effective to remove stains that are still fresh or have recently appeared.

How to boil white fabrics correctly?

Digestion or boiling in modern conditions is not as popular as it was before, but the method is still effective and is worth taking note of.

Particularly dirty items should be soaked before placing in the machine.

To boil at home you need:

  • large enameled or galvanized container without damage or rust;
  • wooden stick;
  • iron tongs;
  • auxiliary cleaning preparations.

Advice! When boiling, you should close the container with a lid, this minimizes the risk of boiling water splashing to the sides.

How to clean white clothes

To eliminate shortcomings, they purchase a variety of household chemicals; this is a separate item of expenditure for the family budget of any housewife.

From yellowness

Yellow stains appear due to sweat soaking the fabric or exposure to sunlight. To eliminate them, bleaches are used.

Chlorine bleach "Whiteness"

The laundry is soaked in a solution of 100 ml of bleach and 5 liters of water. Before placing in the drum of the washing machine, the items are thoroughly rinsed and wrung out.

Attention! Frequent use of chlorine preparations affects the structure of the fabric and thins the fibers.

Liquid bleach "Vanish"

The products are represented by gels and capsules with liquid contents. The recipe for use is simple: pour bleach onto problem areas, leave for 45 minutes, and wash.

From dullness

Many housewives use household chemicals such as Domestos and Fairy to get rid of dullness. They are added to the compartments of the washing machine in minimal quantities.

From stains

Flaws on light-colored clothing are especially noticeable. To remove the resulting stain, cover the contaminated area with fine table salt, then soap it with laundry soap and leave the item for several hours. Then wash as usual.

Directional bleaches have a good effect in fighting stains.

They are poured onto problem areas and left for 5-6 hours.

Household chemicals

There are a large number of different chemicals for washing and bleaching on supermarket shelves. They are produced in powders, gels, liquids, capsules. Therefore, you can use not only proven folk methods, but also more modern and no less effective ones.

Washing powder and Persol

You can wash white items in a washing machine using washing powder and Persol. To do this you need to mix 2 tbsp. l. bleach and 200 g detergent. Pour the mixture into the washing machine compartment and set the required washing mode with water heating to 95°C.

White

Many stained white items can be washed with “Whiteness”. This universal bleach contains chlorine, so it must be used with caution - the concentrated liquid can damage the fabric.

With this product you can whiten linens and clothes, tablecloths and kitchen textiles. It is often added when boiling natural fabrics; it helps remove stains from powder, coffee, grass, and biological fluids; in addition, it is used to get rid of yellowness.

Detailed instructions are located on the back of the container in which “Whiteness” is produced. When washing, it is advisable to follow these recommendations.

It is better to use the product with gloves and protect your respiratory system, since chlorine has toxic properties.

Oxygen bleaches

To give products a pristine whiteness, you can use special oxygen bleaches, which can be easily purchased in the hardware department of a supermarket at an affordable price.

The choice of modern products is wide; manufacturers claim that with these drugs you can safely wash children's clothes and underwear.

In most cases, such bleaches are used simultaneously with washing powder, pouring them into one compartment of the machine.

Faded whites and washed clothes

Failure to follow the sorting rules can result in clothes washing out and colored tints appearing on white items.

To correct the situation, experienced housewives recommend bleaching the damaged item with a mixture of manganese solution and grated laundry soap.

Manganese is diluted with hot water, the solution turns pale pink, crushed soap is added, and mixed. The products are soaked in this mixture for 5-6 hours, covered with a lid or thick plastic wrap. Then the items are thoroughly rinsed.

Rules of care

In order for white items to last a long time, you need to know the basic rules of care:

  • wash and remove stains from white linen in a timely manner, send for storage only in clean form;
  • Yellow stains often appear on folded items; it is better to store clothes on hangers;
  • Washing for white laundry is not enough; to prevent the item from turning gray, it is periodically bleached;
  • Before washing white in the machine, you should rinse it by running the “Rinse” mode;
  • White items do not like long-term storage (they turn yellow for no reason), they need to be worn.

For washing, you should choose special detergents for white laundry.

White things make you look younger, refresh, and give a person chic and aristocracy. To do this, the clothes must be in perfectly clean condition. When buying white, you need to remember that you will have to wash things often, so you should stock up on detergents in advance and familiarize yourself with the care instructions.
