The most convenient mop for washing floors: 8 types and how to use the spin cycle

Types of spin

Depending on how often the mop is used and how much it costs, there are three types of spin:

  1. Manual spin. It was used at the beginning of the twentieth century. You have to wring out the rag or nozzle with your hands. It's not very pleasant, but it's effective. This type is typical for wooden and T-shaped mops.
  2. Semi-automatic mode. Here you can keep your hands clean and dry, but you will have to use mechanical force. Most often, this is a small lever that you need to pull or press so that the mechanism itself wrings out the rag. Typical for sponge models, rope and butterfly mops.
  3. Auto mode. To use it, you need to press a button on the mop or put it in a special bucket. There she wrings out the nozzle or rag herself in a matter of seconds. Electric, steam and flounder models have this mode.

Ease of use

Now about the device itself. The bucket is mega-compact, consists of two parts - one for water, the other for draining. There are two rubber rivets at the bottom for quick drainage of water.

There is also a special recess at the bottom, which is convenient to hold the bucket if you want to pour out water in the standard way.

You wet the mop in one part, wring it out in the other - everything is elementary. The mop is lightweight and very maneuverable.

The handle is equipped with an anti-slip pad on top. The design at the bottom is made in such a way that the mop can be twisted and turned in different directions, washing all corners. By the way, the mop handle is assembled from three parts. They twist into each other. Everything is tightened very tightly, nothing is loose, parts do not fall out of each other.

When a child expresses a desire to help, I simply unscrew the middle part and it turns out to be a mini version; my 5-year-old son is able to independently wet, wring out the mop and wipe the floor.

When fully assembled, it perfectly fits the height of an adult; there is no need to bend over during operation; it is absolutely possible to wash the floor with just one hand. The nozzle is moved to a vertical position by slightly tilting the handle.

What to look for when purchasing

To prevent cleaning from causing much inconvenience, when choosing a mop you need to pay attention to the following aspects:

  1. Handle quality. It is better if it is made of plastic with iron or polyurethane. An all-plastic handle may break quickly, while an all-iron handle will not be mobile enough.
  2. Quality of the cloth/nozzle. If the choice falls on high-quality devices, then you should not take rope and sponge models, as well as the “butterfly”. Their attachments wear out quickly and require replacement. It is better to consider electric mops, T-shaped, flounder and steam options.
  3. Build quality. The device must be movable, flexible, and preferably rotate. A stationary mop that only moves in one direction is not the best choice for general cleaning.

Practicality

I was attracted to this set solely by its compactness. I have nowhere to put a large bucket, and I don’t need it, because I wipe the floor every day. That's why I wanted to find something small and practical.

There are a lot of analogues of such a mop, they are on the most popular Russian sites, but for some reason the price for them in Russia is much higher. The most interesting thing is that they don’t offer additional attachments anywhere. Everywhere in the kit there is only one rag - the one on the mop itself.

On Ali you can choose the number of attachments - from 2 to 10. I chose the middle option with four rags (material - microfiber), because I did not know how convenient this device would be to use and whether I would use all the attachments before this magic mop will fall into disrepair.

So, I placed an order and it was shipped the next day. Delivery to the Moscow region took a week by regular mail. This is a record time for me; never before have goods from China come to me so quickly.

Everything was packed very compactly; at first I couldn’t even believe that a whole mop with a full-sized bucket could fit in such a small box.

As it turned out, the mop was disassembled into several parts and put into the bucket itself. The price of a set with four nozzles was 1,490 rubles. Considering the speed of dispatch and delivery time, in the case of this purchase the price-quality ratio is ideal.

The goods arrived completely intact. Packaging: cardboard box, everything inside is wrapped in film.

What is microfiber

This is a synthetic fabric consisting of polymer fibers (polyamide and polyester), which undergo appropriate processing in order to have the desired properties. After all, a variety of items are made from microfiber.

We all know that synthetics do not absorb water well. But if, during the manufacturing process of the fabric, its fibers are split into the finest threads (16 times thinner than a human hair), then the fabric will have excellent absorbent properties. This will happen due to the fact that it has acquired a porous structure: the volume of the surface for the same area has increased significantly. For the same reason, microfiber dries quickly: after all, moisture is not absorbed into its fibers, but is retained between them. It is used for sportswear, which perfectly absorbs sweat and remains dry, bed linen, cleaning products, etc. If the fibers have not been split, then such fabric will repel moisture, and waterproof items are sewn from it.

Microfiber cleaning cloths are most often made of 80% polyester and 20% polyamide. Thanks to the fineness of the fibers, there are thousands of microhooks per square centimeter of this unique fabric. They have a positive charge and attract dust with a negative charge, like a magnet. Therefore, microfiber cloths often do not require the use of detergents. They are very durable - they can easily withstand up to 100 machine washes.

Selection rules

You can choose the most suitable vertical spin mop, which will be able to effectively cope with the tasks assigned to it, based on the following criteria:

  1. The mechanism of the device and ease of use .
Spinning should not cause any difficulties during operation; it is needed to reduce cleaning time and keep your hands clean. Maximum comfort when washing floors is achieved if the handle is telescopic.

  2. Composition of the nozzle . The most acceptable material is microfiber. Its versatility allows the overlay to be used not only for floor coverings, but also for windows, suspended ceilings, wall tiles, and PVC panels.
  3. Removable surface . It is worth paying attention to the purpose of a specific mop model; find out whether it is suitable for covering a particular room.
  4. Quality . Vertical spin mops made from more durable materials tend to be more expensive than their flimsy counterparts.

Types of mops with automatic (mechanical) spin

Spin mops are distinguished by a special system that involves unscrewing the cleaning head without direct contact with it. They are in great demand among people with sensitive skin on their hands and among those who, due to illness, find it difficult to bend down to squeeze and manually put on the nozzle. Cleaning hygiene is the main advantage of a mop with automatic or mechanical extraction. Its owner does not need to touch the contaminated nozzle and interact with dirty water, so it is practically not capable of causing harm to health.

Device for washing floors in a special bucket

Most often, a mop and a bucket with a wringer on wheels are used for wet cleaning. This is a vertical device consisting of a container with a maximum volume of up to 10 liters, a platform for moving it, a brush and replaceable attachments.

A mop with a bucket is a universal tool for cleaning your home or office.

Today, nozzles made of rope or microfiber and buckets with a self-squeezing system, suitable for various surfaces, are gaining particular popularity. As a rule, a rope mop includes a rod and a rotating nozzle with a diameter of up to 20 cm, to which ropes up to 40 cm long are attached.

They are very easy to replace with new ones or remove for washing. Ropes are made from natural materials: cotton, microfiber, as well as from artificial fabrics (for example, polyester), which extend the life of the product. The attachment is attached to the rod using a swivel joint, so it can be bent and twisted in different directions.

In order to wring out the mop, you need a special bucket. At its end there is a perforated basket that facilitates manual or automatic removal of excess moisture from the fibers. The basket has the shape of a centrifuge, which spins when you press the pedal. Successful examples of such a design are the Spin and Go mop with a wringer and a bucket and its improved analogue, the Spin Mop. .

Thanks to the microfiber Spin Mop attachments (included), you will get a perfectly clean floor very quickly

Instructions for wet cleaning with similar devices:

  1. Fill the bucket with water to a certain level.
  2. Place the mop on the left side of the bucket.
  3. To rinse, press the handle of the structure.
  4. Wring out the mop, placing the attachment in the centrifuge, and press the handle again.
  5. If necessary, repeat rinsing and spinning.

These mops are easy to clean linoleum, ceramic tiles and painted floors. It is worth noting that the design with a bucket simplifies cleaning and also protects your back and hands. But a container filled with water is not always easy to carry.

My personal review

I have been actively using this mop for a month now. I can say for sure that I recommend it for purchase to those who need to clean a small area, for whom compactness and maneuverability are important.

I also recommend it to those who, like me, have tiled floors in the kitchen and/or hallway and have to constantly clean up small debris and dirt after going outside. This mop will also be useful for those who have pets. It removes cat hair perfectly.

pros

The main advantages of the mop: lightness, compactness, maneuverability, does not leave streaks on the floor, hands remain dry and clean, it is possible to wash the floor in hard-to-reach places. In addition, the set itself looks quite stylish, beautiful and modern.

In general, for me personally, such a mop turned out to be useful and necessary in everyday life. I hope that once you purchase it, you will not be disappointed either. Let me note once again that I bought this magical product on Aliexpress.

Also, for cleanliness in the house, I can recommend the ATWFS electric air purifier, also known as a humidifier and ozonizer, and the iLife robot vacuum cleaner.

For thrifty housewives

To ensure that the cleaning attachment serves you for a long time, do not forget to tidy it up after finishing work. Wash microfiber under warm running water to remove dirt, or machine wash in warm (not hot!) water. Never use bleach or fabric softener. The first will destroy thin fibers, the second leaves a film on the fabric that will worsen its characteristics.

Do not wash the attachment with terry rags or other products that leave fibers or pellets in the water. Otherwise, the microfiber cloth will attract them and then leave marks on the surfaces you clean. Let it dry thoroughly, but protect it from excessive heat, because it is synthetic and can melt at high temperatures.

Popular models and their manufacturers

Care&Protect mop
A flat mop with a microfiber attachment is produced by different manufacturers in a wide range to choose from. Among the options, we can highlight a number of the best models.

  1. Care&Protect mop. Manufacturer: Leifheit. A special feature is the presence of a special sprayer, thanks to which there is no need for a bucket. It works like this: on the handle there is a special container into which detergent or water is poured. When you press the button, a stream of liquid emerges. At the same time, the mop rubs it and removes all the dust and dirt. To clean the nozzle, just wash it in a machine at 60 degrees. Then just put it back on.
  2. Easy Clean. Manufacturer: Hausmann. The nozzle in this model is held on with Velcro. Suitable for cleaning any floor surfaces. Unlike the previous model, it is not equipped with a sprayer and has to be wrung out during cleaning. However, you don’t have to do this manually: just pull the handle forward and a mechanical push-up process will occur.
  3. Active Max. Manufacturer: Vileda. A classic model, the nozzle of which will have to be pressed out manually. The difference from other options is the large size (16 by 48 cm). This allows you to quickly clean fairly large areas. The downside is the white color of the nozzle. Because of this, it gets dirty quickly and you have to wash it more often.
  4. Picobello M. Another model from the manufacturer Leifheit. The handle is made of light metal, making the mop almost weightless. It has plastic holders and a spin system similar to the one used in Easy Clean.

Vileda Ultramat wringer floor mop with bucket

A mop with a wringer and a bucket is especially popular. Relevant for all types of coatings. To remove water, there is a special funnel in the bucket, thanks to which you can squeeze out excess water without getting your hands wet.

Thanks to the corrugated zone at the base, the Vileda Ultramat floor mop with extraction allows you to cope with stubborn dirt on various surfaces, including delicate ones, without special products.

The advantages include:

  • ease of use;
  • the ability to clean hard-to-reach places due to the special movable attachment of the handle and nozzle;
  • the presence of a special scale inside the bucket, thanks to which you can ensure accurate dosing of the detergent;
  • high quality due to the use of special thickened plastic for the manufacture of the nozzle.

Microfiber mop: description

Microfiber mop
The most important part of such a tool is the material, which not everyone is familiar with. Microfiber is a synthetic fabric that uses a special fiber. Unlike other fibers, these have a more porous structure and a slightly protruding edge. Thanks to this feature, microfiber cleans dirt from the most inaccessible places: it can be used even in places with small crevices and cracks. The material also holds dirt quite well throughout the entire cleaning process: it gets stuck between the fibers.

Another amazing feature of this mop is that it attracts dust. This happens thanks to energy. During friction when washing floors, the fibers produce a positive charge, and the dust has a negative charge in its structure. This is how the law works that attracts these two units. This way, the dust remains on the rags before being immersed in a bucket of water.
