Is it possible to remove an old stain without resorting to harmful alkaline preparations? Modern products effectively deal with pollution, but contain chemicals that are hazardous to health. A mixture of soda and laundry soap is a real find! It allows you to easily get rid of any stains. Cheap, accessible, harmless - the dream of any housewife!
Miracle mixture. Compound
It is not difficult to prepare a mixture based on laundry soap. For production you will need:
- Cool boiling water (250 – 300 ml)
- Bar of laundry soap 72% (200 gr.)
- Baking soda (1.5 – 2 cups)
- Essential oil (lavender or tea tree).
To make the paste acquire disinfecting properties, you can add an alcohol tincture of calendula.
Soap and soda solution for treating walls
If paint or tiles are applied to the walls, you need to prepare a product that will be slightly different from the standard recipe.
In order to do this, you will need to take 200 g of soda and 25 g of soap shavings. They are diluted in 5 liters of water until the soda is completely dissolved and a stable foam is formed.
Recommendations for applying a soap-soda solution
There are general principles to follow when treating surfaces with disinfectants:
- Use rubber gloves while cleaning. Although the solution does not contain dangerous chemicals, pathogenic microorganisms can become contaminated on your hands when it comes into contact with the floor or walls.
- Ventilate the room at the same time as disinfection. If it is very cold outside, you can limit yourself to windows. But in the summer it is necessary to open the windows completely. This will reduce the concentration of viruses in the air and prevent them from settling on surfaces after cleaning.
- The 1% composition is used for preventive sanitation. It is necessary to treat surfaces with it as often as possible (2 - 3 times a day) if one of the family members is sick. After recovery, it is recommended to go over the floors and walls with a 2% solution and do a general cleaning.
Preparation
A cleaning mixture based on soda and soap is prepared in several stages.
- It is necessary to grind the laundry soap. It can be crumbled with a knife or grated. To make the soap crumble easier, place it in the refrigerator in advance for 1.5 - 2 hours.
- Soap crumbs are poured with boiling water. The resulting mixture is mixed well using a mixer or blender. It should become homogeneous.
- With constant stirring, add 1.5 cups of soda. If necessary, add another 0.5 cup of soda.
- Add a few drops of essential oil. The mixture will acquire a pleasant aroma and antibacterial effect.
Mix the finished paste well until smooth and transfer it to a jar with a tight-fitting lid.
Recommendations for use
The main condition is not to abuse the prepared products and not to put them in a machine like an automatic machine for more than 30-40 g. The powder foams perfectly, but this is bad for the machine: the pipes and hose instantly become clogged with foam. It is advisable to use powders for manual washing and for semi-automatic machines. After washing, rinse the item in plain water to remove any remaining product from the fabric.
If you are going to wash items made from delicate fabrics, then first try the product on the wrong side and on an inconspicuous part. Nothing bad happens to the fabric, which means you can safely wash the item with powder. Laundry soap and soda together can cause the fabric to lose color over time, so try to wash the item with a homemade product no more than once every 2-3 weeks.
On a note! You can store homemade powder in a glass or plastic container, but with a closing lid.

Description of the component composition
The product can be based on just 2 simple ingredients that can be found in every home: baking soda and soap. To understand the principle of action of substances, you need to familiarize yourself with their brief characteristics:
- Baking soda is an excellent dirt remover. The substance immediately penetrates deep into the fibers of the fabric and helps destroy dirt. It contains carbon and potassium. When interacting with warm water, the compound releases carbon dioxide, so small bubbles appear on the surface. Bicarbonate is safe for human health and rarely causes allergic reactions, but it is better not to neglect personal protective equipment;
- laundry soap. It contains sodium and potassium acids, which have excellent cleaning ability. The soap has an alkaline reaction and lathers well even in cold water due to the lauric acid it contains.
When the two components interact, a reaction mixture with mild alkaline properties is obtained, as a result of which stains from the fabric disappear completely. The mixture is capable of destroying even old stains, traces of grease, ballpoint pens, and blood.

Pros and cons of eco-friendly powders
Is it possible to completely abandon synthetic laundry detergents in favor of safe ones? After all, most companies producing detergents do not specialize in producing environmentally friendly products.
You need to know this. Manufacturers often label their products as “children’s.” Don't let her mislead you. Children's powders contain the same phosphates and surfactants, only in lower concentrations. Products with such labeling cannot be considered environmentally friendly.
With some effort, you can probably find powders labeled “ECO” on the market or in online stores.
Benefits of eco-friendly laundry products:
- hypoallergenic composition;
- based on natural soap and soda;
- contain surfactants only of plant origin;
- Packed in biodegradable containers.
Attention! Carefully read the composition indicated on the package. Despite the “eco” prefix, powders may contain bleaches and artificial flavors.
The main disadvantages of eco-powders:
- They do not wash away old stains and “complex” dirt well;
- high price.
To prepare the washing paste we will need:
- a piece of laundry soap (not all of it)
I had “remnants” that I usually don’t throw away, but combine into one piece. After car repairs, my husband, for example, doesn’t care what the soap looks like, as long as it cleans his hands well.
- soda (I used a little less than half a pack - I ran out!)
- mustard , optional (if you are making dishwashing liquid)
As well as a grater, a bowl and hot water (about 1 cup)
Pros of homemade washing gel
First of all, it is accessible. To prepare the gel you do not need expensive ingredients, knowledge or a lot of time. There are many recipes, but all have the same advantages. So, the main advantages:
- No aggressive substances. Store-bought washing gels contain surfactants and phosphates necessary to remove stains. However, they not only remove dirt, but also damage the protective layer of human skin. As a result, dryness, irritation and itching appear, and the immune system often suffers. Home remedies consist of regular soap and are therefore considered quite safe.
- Efficiency. Most powders and gels only work in hot water, which is not suitable for some fabrics. Homemade products are suitable for washing in cool water.
- Availability. As a rule, liquid substances in the store cost approximately 300-700 rubles. Do-it-yourself washing gel will cost at least 10 times less.
- In addition, homemade substances smell pleasant, unlike store-bought ones, and are suitable for hand washing, soaking and machine washing. As for fabrics, there are no restrictions. The product effectively removes all stains, even on children's clothing, underwear, bedding, tablecloths or kitchen napkins.
Arguments about washing with soap in a washing machine
On many forums you can read a furious statement that it is strictly forbidden to use a laundry soap product for washing in a car, because you can simply destroy the parts and the heating element. It sticks to clothes, the walls of the centrifuge, is not completely washed out of the powder compartment, etc. It is not necessary to argue with such a statement; it is enough to simply open studies on this topic and familiarize yourself with them.
Data 1
Laundry soap does not foam much and is therefore suitable for washing in an automatic washing machine. And if you have soft water in your region, it’s generally ideal. The product leaves a trace after use inside the drum, and is not completely washed out of the washing powder compartment only when the water is hard and the soap alkali interacts with salts. If you prefer this product and have hard water, you can empty the machine once a week by pouring lemon juice or vinegar inside, which will remove all unwanted marks.
Given 2
People talk about the terrible smell of soap. But in fact, this statement has long since sunk into oblivion.
Modern manufacturers have long taken this drawback into account and removed the legendary smell, making the soap almost odorless. What smells usually contains a substance called soapstock, which gives the soap its aroma, as well as its darker color.
Washing with laundry soap in an automatic washing machine can bring incredible pleasure because it will remove all the dirt that washing powder simply cannot remove. The only advantages of the powder are a pleasant aroma and reduced foaming. But as we said above, the laundry soap product also does not have increased foaming, due to its total naturalness. And to remove the smell of soap, it is enough to use some fragrant, high-quality baby soap in a mix with it, or, when preparing a jelly solution for washing, add essential oils.
Given 3
Liquid laundry soap is a new product on the household chemicals market. It is the same as regular one in composition. Therefore, due to its good solubility, it is better suited for machine washing. The problem is solved and there is no need to worry about rubbing and preparing solutions.
In fact, there is some truth to the above statements. Liquid laundry soap for an automatic washing machine is better in terms of ease of use.
But if you take a closer look at the composition, you can find the notorious surfactants (toxic substances). They are what make the soap liquid - without them, laundry soap, due to its structure, cannot be liquid in any way.
