Modern models of vacuum cleaners require careful maintenance. The most contaminated part is the brush, which comes into direct contact with debris, dust, and cobwebs. It cleans any surface: smooth and fluffy. But to keep your floors and carpets looking like new, you need to remove the brush from the vacuum cleaner and clean it.
If the turbo brush is not clogged with hair and debris, it will clean any surface: furniture, parquet, laminate, linoleum, curtains, suspended and painted ceilings, carpets and rugs. It will even reach hard-to-reach places: where a large number of crumbs, threads, and wool accumulate.
Many vacuum cleaner models on the market are quite compact. This is especially convenient for regular cleaning of premises. Light weight and small size make work easier and faster. But a lot depends on the brush.

Separate stages of the vacuum cleaner brush cleaning method
A vacuum cleaner is the main weapon for fighting dust, but it requires maintenance.
It is not enough to remove the dust container or wash the filter. The first thing to get dirty is the brush and hose, so they need to be cleaned regularly. Dust can clog the inlet, hair and fur can become entangled in the bristles or wheels. If the suction power has decreased significantly, the motor is running rough, then you need to check the brush. Most likely, it is clogged inside and the hose is dusty. Measures must be taken immediately.
To clean, the vacuum cleaner is unplugged and disassembled. The method depends on the device model, so you should study the instructions in advance.
Most often, a turbo brush is used by pet owners, especially during seasonal shedding. When the floor, carpets, and furniture are covered with a layer of wool, the vacuum cleaner brush will collect them and thoroughly clean the surface. Rotating bristles effectively remove hair from the surface, capturing it and sending it into the dust collector with air flow. Long hair can get tangled in the bristles or wheels, so it is necessary to clean the nozzle in a timely manner so that the quality of cleaning does not suffer. “Maintenance” should be carried out after every 2-3 cleanings. To do this, follow the following algorithm:
- Before cleaning the brush from the vacuum cleaner, remove the attachment.
- If the brush is collapsible, as on most modern vacuum cleaners, then you need to open the lid slightly by pressing the handle.
- Wipe the nozzle inside and outside with a damp cloth.
- Clean the brush with a sharp object, removing stuck fur, hair and dust particles from the bristles. Small tweezers, a needle, a ripper, or a hook are suitable for this.
- Reassemble the brush or close the lid.
By clearing the nozzle of dirt, the vacuum cleaner will become more powerful and the suction power will increase. At least 1-2 times a month, you should completely disassemble the nozzle, take out the dust container, filter, and disconnect the hose. All this requires care and cleaning. It is enough to wipe the inside and outside with a damp cloth, since manufacturers do not recommend washing the vacuum cleaner parts under running water.

You can clean the side brushes with another soft-bristled brush (for example, a toothbrush). To restore their shape, you need to immerse them in hot water for a while.
Remove construction waste, flour, fragments
After repairs or simply after drilling a concrete wall, of course, you need to vacuum it. How many vacuum cleaners died the death of the brave after such procedures is unknown, but certainly a lot. For cleaning construction waste, professional or household vacuum cleaners are suitable, in which the filtration system is simpler than in household ones, and a metal or plastic tank is used as a waste container. Sometimes, to clean up construction waste after renovations, you simply buy a cheap vacuum cleaner, which you don’t mind throwing away later or moving it to the garage. Cleaning up fragments is contraindicated with bag vacuum cleaners - the bag may tear; and cleaning up a large amount of flour (for example, if the bag is dropped and it breaks) will damage any vacuum cleaner: all the filters will become clogged and some of the flour may get into the motor - its particles are too small and pass through the pores of the filter. If you need to vacuum a small amount (no more than a tablespoon), then no problem.
The Gorenje vacuum cleaner has been serving me faithfully for 12 years now . Excellent engine, convenient design, fun pastime during repairs. Like everything in this world, it turned out to be not eternal and once again broke. Namely, the vacuum cleaner brush broke . It has let me down before - the brush pipe was cracked - I had to wrap up layers of electrical tape. What kind of vacuum cleaner is it without insulation :-). The electrical tape must be blue :-).

Questions about vacuum cleaner bags
How to choose a bag for my vacuum cleaner?
In order to choose the right bag for your vacuum cleaner, you should know:
- Manufacturer of the vacuum cleaner.
- The model of the vacuum cleaner, which is indicated on the bottom of the device or in the instructions for the vacuum cleaner.
If the manufacturer and model of the vacuum cleaner are known, then use the wizard for selecting bags based on the model of the vacuum cleaner.
If there is no such information, then we can select a bag from our range or sew a reusable dust collector to order. For this we need a bag sample or a vacuum cleaner. The dust bag can be either new or already used, but empty (the bag can be cut off from the bottom to empty it of its contents). If there is no bag sample, then the plate is made in accordance with the individual parameters for attaching the bag to the vacuum cleaner.
How can you tell if the bag is full?
Almost all vacuum cleaners are equipped with a bag full indicator , which will tell the owner when the bag is full. A change in color or the indicator turns on indicates that it is necessary to replace the dust container or empty the garbage from the bag. An exception may be a blockage in a hose, tube or brush. If the indicator obviously does not work or is missing, then the fullness of the bag is determined visually or by a drop in the suction capacity of the vacuum cleaner.
Should you always trust the vacuum cleaner bag full indicator? When does the bag full indicator light up?
As a rule, the instructions for the vacuum cleaner indicate that the dust bag should be replaced when the bag full indicator lights up. It is not always so. The bag full indicator turns on or changes color if rarefied air is formed in the vacuum cleaner chamber, namely, a limited amount of air enters the vacuum cleaner chamber.
Here are the main reasons for the bag full indicator to trigger:
- The bag is full.
- The pores in the walls of the bag became clogged while collecting fine dust, such as construction dust from cement or plaster.
- During the cleaning process, the brush adheres very tightly to the surface. The “floor/carpet” mode may not be set correctly.
- During the cleaning process, a crevice nozzle is used, which also reduces the free flow of air.
- There is a blockage in the vacuum cleaner hose from debris (match, sock, ball, or other).
Questions about vacuum cleaner brushes
How to remove a brush from a vacuum cleaner pipe?
Solution : In order to remove the brush from the vacuum cleaner pipe, it is recommended to heat the junction of the pipe and the brush to a temperature of 60 - 70 C and, without waiting for cooling, remove the brush from the pipe. You can heat it using a hair dryer or stove. When heated, the plastic elements expand, as a result of which the brush-pipe connection is weakened. It is very important not to overheat the plastic parts as this may cause them to melt.
Reason : Under the influence of temperature changes, plastic elements slightly change their shape. Therefore, if the brush is stored on the pipe for a long time, it will be securely fixed and cannot be removed with simple movements.
How to prevent: To prevent the brush from sticking to the pipe again, you should periodically or permanently store the brush separately.
Why doesn't the lint switch on the brush work? Why should you clean your brush? How to clean the brush?
Reason : Below are a few factors why you should clean your brush periodically:
- The maximum amount of dust inside the brush prevents you from switching the length of the pile, and also impedes the passage of air, reduces the suction ability of the vacuum cleaner and increases the load on the engine.
- Debris that has accumulated in the brush bristles reduces the quality of cleaning.
Solution : Depending on which part of the brush needs to be cleaned, there are several recommendations:
- In order to adjust the pile length switch, unwind the brush. Clean all internal parts of accumulated debris. It is possible to wash the brush if it does not have electronic settings. Assemble the brush and carefully, without unnecessary effort, tighten the screws.
- Debris can be removed using an old fork. In this way, you can thoroughly clean the pile from old, well-compacted dust.
Questions about vacuum cleaner hoses
How to repair a vacuum cleaner hose?
In order to repair a vacuum cleaner hose, you need to figure out what exactly is broken. There are several breakdowns:
- The hose (sleeve) has broken.
- Nose cracked.
- The attachment to the vacuum cleaner is broken.
Depending on the type of hose failure, there are the following recommendations for hose repair :
- The hose sleeve broke . You can replace only the sleeve, preserving the original parts: the spout and the attachment to the vacuum cleaner.
- If the spout is cracked, replace it with a compatible spout. In this case, you only need to know the fitting diameter of the pipe or brush and the outer diameter of the hose.
- The attachment of the hose to the vacuum cleaner is broken. As a rule, the hose attachment to the vacuum cleaner has an individual fit. If it is not possible to find an original or compatible part, we are ready to offer another customized solution.
How to check the permeability of a vacuum cleaner hose?
Solution : The hose is quite flexible and long, so aligning it perfectly will be problematic. In addition, there are always bent nozzles on the hose. Therefore, in order to make sure that the hose is not clogged, you need to throw something into it, for example the size of a bean. This could be the bean itself, a nut, a pea, a washer, or something else. If this item comes out without problems, then there is no blockage in the hose.
Reason : Due to the formation of a plug in the hose, the suction capacity of the vacuum cleaner decreases, its noise increases, and the engine overheats. The cause of the plug is objects that have managed to get caught inside the hose. For example, Christmas tree needles, toothpicks, needles, wool, hair, etc. These items block air flow and accumulate other debris.
What to do if the vacuum cleaner hose is clogged? How to clean a vacuum cleaner hose?
Solution : If there is a plug in the vacuum cleaner hose, remove it as follows:
- Determine the approximate location of the plug, for example, throw in a nut or gradually bend the hose until resistance becomes noticeable.
- Remove the spout and attachment from the hose. Attention! At this stage you need to be extremely careful not to break the latches. In most cases, to remove the spout and mount, you must gently press the 2 latches or antennae located on both sides of the nozzles. A bent spout is the main obstacle you may encounter when cleaning a hose (sleeve).
- Pull out the plug:
- If the debris is located very close to one end of the hose, then you can pick it up with something, for example, tweezers or a homemade hook made from a paper clip on a stick.
- If the cork cannot be picked up, then you should use a long stick with which you can push out what is stuck in it. You can use the handle of a mop as a stick. It is recommended to push in the opposite direction of suction, from the attachment to the vacuum cleaner to the spout.
- Place the spout and mount onto the hose. Reassemble in the opposite order of disassembly. An example of how to put a spout on a hose can be found here. Similarly, you can install the hose attachment to the vacuum cleaner.
Cause : When cleaning, a plug may form in the hose from Christmas tree needles, toothpicks, wool, hair, toys or anything else that can get caught inside the hose and accumulate other debris.
Questions about vacuum cleaners
Why doesn't the vacuum cleaner turn on?
Causes : Each case is individual, as there are many reasons. Here are a few of them:
- non-working socket.
- damaged cord from a vacuum cleaner.
- The power button does not work.
- The thermal protection of the motor is disabled.
- The triac does not work.
- the engine does not work.
Solution : First of all, you should exclude the outlet: try plugging it into another outlet or connecting another device that definitely works. If the vacuum cleaner still does not turn on, then you can contact us, and we will be happy to help you find out and solve the reason why the vacuum cleaner does not turn on.
Why is the vacuum cleaner so noisy? How to remove vibration from the vacuum cleaner body?
Solution : Clean, repair or replace the engine. We do not recommend solving this problem yourself, but contacting a specialist. You can contact us and we can help you.
Reason : The main factor in the appearance of vibration on the body of the vacuum cleaner and the increase in its noise is associated with the appearance of an imbalance on the engine impeller. During cleaning, all the air that the vacuum cleaner sucks in passes through the motor at high speed and exits through the outlet filter. This flow also carries dust that the dust collector did not catch. As a result, small dust particles stick to the engine impeller and accumulate. If part of this layer falls off, an imbalance of the impeller will occur and vibration will appear on the body of the vacuum cleaner. This imbalance will most likely cause the bearings in the engine to fail. In addition to the accumulation of a dense layer of dust, larger debris can enter the engine. This will most likely happen if you use a damaged bag or use a vacuum cleaner without a bag, which is not intended by its design. An unbalanced impeller or a blockage in the motor will render it unusable.
How to warn : Replace the bag and filters in a timely manner. Be sure to use a dust collector if provided by the design of the vacuum cleaner. Pay attention to changes in the operating noise of the vacuum cleaner. The noise of the vacuum cleaner should be monotonous and uniform.
Why does the vacuum cleaner get very hot? Why did the suction power of the vacuum cleaner disappear?
Reason : The engine on household vacuum cleaners, with the exception of washing vacuum cleaners and vacuum cleaners that work with water filters, operates on self-cooling. The sucked air that passes through the vacuum cleaner cools the motor. When the bag is full, the inlet and outlet filters are dirty, the hose, pipe or brush is clogged, the air resistance increases, which leads to overheating of the motor windings and failure. As a result, the vacuum cleaner heats up more and its suction power disappears.
Solution : Clear the path for air to pass through. First of all, you should check the filling of the bag. If it is full, then replace the replaceable dust collector or shake out the reusable one. The next step is to check all the filters in the vacuum cleaner - if there is a dense layer of dust on them, then you need to replace the disposable ones or wash the cleaning filters. If these steps do not help, then you should check the hose, brush and pipe for the presence of lumps of debris in them and clean them if there are any. And the last reason (one of the worst options) is that something got into the vacuum cleaner motor. In this case, it is best to contact a specialist. You can contact us and we can help you.
How to prevent: Timely replacement of the bag and regular inspection of accessories and filters will help prevent the vacuum cleaner from heating up and increase its service life.
Is it possible to close the lid of a vacuum cleaner without a bag?
It is prohibited to close the vacuum cleaner lid without a bag .
Most vacuum cleaners have built-in protection that prevents you from using the vacuum cleaner without a bag. Making efforts to close the lid can break the bag holder or damage the lid of the vacuum cleaner. Additionally, storing a vacuum cleaner closed without a dust bag may cause it to be used without a bag, which will clog the motor.
What to do if the bag fastening in the vacuum cleaner breaks?
Unfortunately, a broken bag mount in a vacuum cleaner is almost impossible to repair. There are two ways to solve this problem. The first is to buy an original mount. The second is to use our solution. We can make a custom reusable dust bag with a modified plate, which allows you to use the bag without a fastener. To complete this order, we will need a vacuum cleaner. The disadvantage of this solution is the inability to use disposable dust collectors. Examples of completed orders can be viewed here.
Note! There are models of vacuum cleaners with a removable mount, which can be mistakenly thrown away when changing the dust container.
Why does dust collect on the inner walls of the vacuum cleaner?
Reason : None of the existing filters retain 100% of dust, even the ULPA U17 filter, which is used in laboratories with high hygiene requirements. The amount of dust on the walls of the vacuum cleaner increases if you use a worn bag and filters, as well as if the rubber on the dust collector plate wears out.
Solution : Less dust will accumulate on the walls of the vacuum cleaner if you regularly clean or replace the bag and all filters. If there is increased noise or vibration of the vacuum cleaner body, we advise you to contact a specialist to repair and clean the inside of the vacuum cleaner.
Repair it yourself or call a professional?
You can repair a Samsung vacuum cleaner yourself, or entrust this work to a professional. Both options have their advantages and disadvantages that you need to consider before making your final decision.
Equipment under warranty
For most models of Samsung vacuum cleaners, the warranty is 1 year, although for devices in the SC20F70, SC07F80 and SC12H70 series it is 5 years.
In addition, some models with an inverter motor come with a 10-year warranty from the date of purchase.
If the vacuum cleaner breaks down, but is under warranty, you do not need to repair it yourself. You should contact a service center, where all parts will be replaced free of charge. If the equipment cannot be repaired, it must be replaced or the money returned. The main thing is not to attempt to open the case yourself.
Pros and cons of home renovation
Advantages of home renovation:
- financial savings;
- arrival of the master anywhere in the city, at a time convenient for the client;
- repairs are carried out in front of the owner of the equipment.
The main disadvantage of home repairs is the difficulty in finding a qualified specialist and the risk of meeting scammers.
Therefore, it is better to contact craftsmen who have already proven themselves by performing similar work for relatives or friends. It’s good if he has a narrow specialization, that is, he only repairs vacuum cleaners.
Advantages and disadvantages of repairing at a service center
Repairing equipment at a service center has the following advantages:
- Original parts are always available.
- The likelihood of encountering scammers is minimal.
- Large organizations employ qualified specialists.
- All work is carried out under a contract. Replaced parts are guaranteed.
The disadvantages include the need to deliver equipment to a service center and the high cost of work (compared to private craftsmen).
You can find a specialist by looking for an advertisement in a newspaper or on the Internet. The average cost of repair work is 1,500 rubles, depending on the complexity.
Repair
Let's look at the main breakdowns and how to fix them.
Breaking | Remedy |
The turning mechanism does not hold due to abrasion of the rotating surface | Connect the turning mechanism to the brush. Using a drill, make 2 holes on both sides, thread the wire, secure and bend. The mechanism will hold tight. |
The connection between the brush and the nozzle is loose and sucks in air due to a broken O-ring | Open the connection, remove the broken ring. Cut strips from the batting and wrap them around the broken ring. Air will not be sucked in. Strengthen the connection with plastic: cut thin strips, bend them in the shape of a V, insert into the holes and strengthen the connection. |
The rollers are worn out | Remove the cotter pin that connects the brush to the extension. Restore the rollers: cut a strip from a plastic bottle, wrap it around the damaged roller, fill it with epoxy resin, and sand it. Make a new cotter pin from a metal rod, place rollers on it, and secure the sides of the rod with epoxy resin. |
The brush of a vacuum cleaner is one of its most worn components. Sometimes the reason for poor operation of the vacuum cleaner lies in a malfunction of the nozzle, which you can fix with your own hands. To do this, you need to be able to properly disassemble the brush and determine the cause of the breakdown. If repairs are carried out correctly, the brush can last for a long time.
You will find more interesting information on this topic in the “ Repair ” section of our portal.
The unit does not turn on at all
If you plug the unit into a power outlet and nothing happens, then repairing a Samsung vacuum cleaner (with your own hands, of course) should begin with a thorough inspection of the electrical part of the device. First, make sure that the outlet itself is working - to do this, plug in another device that is known to be working. If everything is in order, inspect the vacuum cleaner cord, look for scuffs, cracks, breaks or other damage.

If all of the above actions do not produce results, it means that the brushes are to blame or the motor has burned out. This part of the repair already falls into the more complex category.
Dutch Uncle
Simplicimus Incognitus: Bedgerdyshch!
Cordless vacuum cleaners have one huge advantage (portability) and two disadvantages: relatively low suction power and limited operating time. Moreover, both the advantages and disadvantages are directly related to the batteries used - which, by the way, will need to be replaced in a year or two...
So, after a year and a half, I began to notice that the vacuum cleaner I talked about in the first part began to work rather poorly. Let me remind you that until recently there were five people living in the apartment: two people, two large dogs and a “medium fluffy domestic cat.”
2.1 Preparation
Almost the only worthwhile information that was found on the Internet was a photo report by a certain New Yorker about replacing Ergorapido battery replacement batteries.
After looking at the photos, I ordered Sanyo Eneloop AA 1900 mAh NiMh batteries from extragadget.ru. If your vacuum cleaner uses lithium ones, order lithium ones, don’t get confused!
I ordered from extragadget.ru because I had already placed orders with them, and I was quite satisfied with both the timing and the quality of service. Why Sanyo Eneloop batteries? Firstly, at one time they were highly praised by Sergei Golubitsky in an article about the Maha smart charger - these are not disposable Chinese batteries, but high-quality Japanese products that use the technology of the same name, which reduces self-discharge and allows batteries to be recharged up to 1800 times! And secondly, in extragadget.ru they already had soldered contacts (see photo below), which greatly simplified and speeded up the work.
In February 2015, the batteries arrived, I went to the post office to get them and prepared a place on the table where I placed a vacuum cleaner and the necessary tools: Phillips and flathead screwdrivers, a knife, electrical tape, a soldering iron, solder, flux. In order not to be distracted during disassembly and reassembly, you can connect the batteries in pairs in advance (see details below).
Begin! Disconnect the handheld vacuum cleaner. Then we disconnect the garbage container from it. If necessary, the surfaces can be wiped clean of dust (and there is dust there). After this, you can unscrew the screws and detach the sides.
1. Side view. To the right of the motor you can see blue Electrolux 1300 mAh batteries. The vacuum cleaner uses 10 batteries - which means the total charge will be 13 Ah - which, according to the manufacturer, should be enough for about 15 minutes of operation.
2. Bottom view. The nameplate shows the parameters of the vacuum cleaner.
3. Disconnect the upper part of the handle. In the top view you can see two more batteries and next to the motor and a green board with control electronics and a power button. During disassembly, try not to press the power button of the vacuum cleaner.
Inadvertently vacuum up wet
It may well be damp under the bathroom, as well as in the kitchen and hallway. Happened? The vacuum cleaner most likely will not react at all unless it is a puddle. And yet the consequences can be: from a short circuit in the most extreme case to “cementing” of dust in the nozzle and suction pipe, which leads to blockage and the formation of a very unpleasant rotten smell, especially if you have a vacuum cleaner with a bag. By the way, this also applies to spilled cat litter: it can be wet and then create a lump that will clog the system.
This can only be done if you have a household or professional vacuum cleaner
