How to correctly decipher the markings and symbols on Bosch washing machines

Countries in which Bosch washing machines are assembled

Some Bosch washing machines have an index that means the following:

  • OE – denotes one of the former CIS countries: Russia, Ukraine or Belarus.
  • EE - Spain.
  • BY – Eastern Europe.
  • GB - England.
  • EU – either Eastern or Western Europe.

Are you unplugging your washing machine?

Oh yes! No

In another embodiment, the country of assembly is determined by a three-digit letter code. Examples:

  • WAS, WLX – Germany.
  • WAE – Türkiye or Poland. The exception is the model marked WAE28441, which is also German.
  • WLF - often Germany, and if the number code ends in 4 or 5 - China.
  • WAA - Türkiye.
  • WOT - France.
  • WOR - Poland. Legacy WFX - also Poland.
  • WLM - China.

Ask a Question

Important! The three-digit letter code is usually placed at the end of the machine marking and should not be separated by spaces. That is, if, for example, the designation is “W AE 24460 OE”, then W AE does not mean that the machine is from Turkey, there is a different decoding, discussed in more detail in one of the sections below (more details for this example: W - washing machine in general, A - front-loading and E - capable of being fully integrated into furniture).

Samsung product labeling

Washing machines from the Korean company Samsung also include a marking code in the model name, which contains the basic parameters of the equipment.

The first two letters in the marking of Samsung machines are WW or WD. WW - designation of a front-loading machine, WD - washing machine with drying function.

Samsung washing machine panel

The next two digits indicate the maximum allowable load of laundry. For example, the number 50 – 5 kg of laundry, 75 – 7.5 kg, 10 – 10 kg.

Next comes the letter designation, by which you can determine the year of manufacture of the model (it is the same for all Samsung equipment):

  • H – 2014
  • J – 2015
  • K – 2016
  • F – 2022.

The letter is followed by a number indicating the series of the model. The higher this number, the more functionality the machine has.

The following number in the marking makes it possible to find out the number of possible revolutions per minute:

  • 8 – 800;
  • 0 – 1000;
  • 2 – 1200 and so on.

The alphanumeric designation at the end of the code determines the design, color and other external characteristics of the selected model.

General explanation of the markings of various models

This image will help you understand clearly.

Bosch washing machine markings

The first letter W denotes the type of equipment - a washing machine.

The next one is the CMA type. In the example given, the English L indicates that this is a narrow washing machine with front-loading of laundry into a 45-centimeter drum.

Other letters are deciphered as follows:

  • I - front built-in model.
  • A - frontal type, normal depth 60 centimeters.
  • O - vertical machine.
  • V - drying machine.
  • K - built-in washer-dryer.
  • E - fully built-in, with a hinged door.

The third letter is a series:

  • L, K, T, R - sixth series;
  • A, P, G, H - fourth;
  • S, W - eighth;
  • Y - Home Professional series.

Do you store laundry in the washing machine?

Oh yes! No.

In later models, the same letter, however, means the class of the machine, and there are the following options:

  • S - class F, premium with a load of 8 kilograms.
  • E - FV, middle class.
  • T - middle class PV with vertical laundry loading.
  • A - FX, basic class.
  • R - basic PX class with vertical laundry loading.
  • V - class P20.
  • X - forty-centimeter middle class SV.
  • D - class WV.
  • C - class WX.
  • B - premium class WW68, nine kilograms of laundry.

Next comes a digital indication of the spin speed. In the example given - 24, this means 1200 revolutions every minute (that is, multiplication by 50 times). Others explain it this way:

  • Number 12 - 600 revolutions;
  • 16 - 800 rpm;
  • 20 - 1000 rpm;
  • 28 - 1400 rpm;
  • 32 - 1600 rpm;
  • 36 - 1800 rpm;
  • And 40 - 2000 rpm.

Another combination with numbers is the type of control (for example, an electronic display - just 27).

The next number is the design of the washing machine. Almost always this is 1 - classic.

And the last two letters are the country of production; they were discussed in more detail in the section above.

Features of LG marking

LG is a Korean brand of electronics and home appliances popular all over the world. The marking of LG washing machines has its own characteristics, so when choosing equipment, this must be taken into account.

The marking code begins with the brand name - LG.

The next letter (F, E or M) indicates the front loading type.

Note! LG does not produce top-loading washing machines.

Then there are two numbers by which you can determine the maximum permissible spin speed. It is enough to multiply the indicated number by 100 (for example, the number 12 in the code means 1200 rpm).

LG control panel

The next two symbols indicate the design of the selected washing machine model. Designations 91, 96, A8, and so on may occur.

Next comes the letter that determines the depth of the case. There are the following models:

  • S – very narrow model (up to 35 cm), holding no more than 4 kg of laundry;
  • H, L, M, N – narrow models with a capacity of 5-7 kg;
  • F, T, B, W – standard models, with a depth of about 60 cm, holding 7-12 kg.

The next D in the code is basically the same for all modern washing machines and indicates direct drive.

In the case of built-in additional functions, two letters may appear at the end of the marking - H and S. The first indicates the built-in drying function, and the second indicates the steam processing function.

Designations on the Bosch SMA

So, examples are given and it’s worth clearly deciphering the sign of Bosch washing machines for a better understanding:

WLT 20271 OE. It is enough to check the previous sections and understand the following:

  • The first letter is always “W” because that is what represents the washing machine.
  • The second is L. A narrow forty-five-centimeter body. Loading option - horizontal.
  • The third is T. That is, this is the sixth episode.
  • Next, the number 20 is a thousand revolutions.
  • Further figures, as stated above, are control options. “27” indicates the presence of an electronic display.
  • Number 1 is a classic appearance option.
  • And OE - this model was produced in Ukraine, Russia or Belarus (most often - Russia).

Do you turn off the water tap after washing?

Oh yes! No.

This is a simple example, but there are shortcuts as well. What can you say about, for example, WM 16 S740?

Everything is clear about W and M. But then the series is skipped - this happens, but in this case the next 2 digits are still revolutions, that is, 16 is 800 revolutions per minute.

And then something new appeared: the letter S breaks the digital list.

In this case, it denotes the platform: in this particular example, the new F20. And there are:

  • E - FV sixty centimeters.
  • A - FX sixty centimeters Entry.
  • X - SV 44 cm.
  • F - SX 44 centimeters Entry.
  • T - PV platform vertical.

Then the numbers that are not particularly interesting and important are the type of design and design, which is why they were not examined in more detail. But the country of origin is not indicated here - again, this is possible.

This is a variant of a slightly “shortened and expanded sign”. It’s also useful to be able to understand these, but with the explanations above it won’t be difficult.

Tool color

The Germans were among the first to introduce a public division between professional and home instruments. Previously, and even now, most manufacturers distinguished household tools into a separate brand or identified some lines with less reliability and power.

Regarding Bosch power tools, separation in design has become a standard - and more often you can hear “green” instead of “home” and “blue” instead of professional, and not only from this manufacturer. Actually, the marking features begin with the color designation. By the way, there are more than two of them:

  • P - home or personal instrument, from the German persönlich, promoted under the thesis DIY - Do It Yourself, home crafts;
  • G – commercial or professional, from the German großtechnisch, “on an industrial scale”;
  • A - garden accessories (including chainsaws), by the way, also distinguished by the color of the plastic body - light green;
  • B and D - measuring instruments and accessories.

Where is the assembly done?

The geography of production facilities for the production of Bosch washing machines is extensive. For buyers, the country of assembly matters. It is no secret that the German assembly is of high quality. The rest of the European Union states also show excellent quality. Knowing the labeling will help you avoid making a mistake with the country of origin when choosing Bosch equipment.

The letter index at the end of the marking code indicates the country where the washing unit was manufactured:

  • OE – produced in the CIS (Russian Federation, Belarus, Ukraine);
  • GB – made in Great Britain;
  • EE – made in Spain;
  • BY – produced in Eastern Europe;
  • EU – produced in Western or Eastern Europe.

This attachment does not provide complete information. Moreover, not all notations have an index. A more specific decoding is a three-digit alphabetic code located in the serial number:

  • WAS and WLX – German assembly;
  • WAE – Polish or Turkish assembly;
  • WOT - French assembly;
  • WOR and WFX – Polish assembly;
  • WAA – Turkish assembly;
  • WLM - Chinese assembly.

Models with code WAE are produced in Turkey and Poland. The exception is sample WAE28441, which indicates belonging to Germany. WLF models ending in 4 are assembled in Germany; the same models, but with the end of the numerical code with the number 5, are of Chinese origin.

Compressor markings

Almost all series of Bosch refrigerators are equipped with Danish compressors. The letters and numbers on the Bosch refrigerator compressor nameplate mean the series, motor protection, appliance efficiency, efficiency, and type of cooling. Explanation of Bosch refrigerator compressor models, typical values.

  1. The first letter in the designation - P, T, N, F or S - indicates the series, the second indicates the installation location of the motor protection.
  2. The letters E, Y and X indicate operation in economy mode.
  3. The letter S indicates the use of a standard suction connection.
  4. The letter V stands for adjustable motor speed.
  5. The number in the designation indicates the compressor capacity in cm3.
  6. The letter after the capacity indicates the type of refrigerant, as well as the purpose of the compressor.
  7. The combination of LBP indicates low boiling points, the possibility of using these compressors in refrigeration units of freezers and refrigerators with freezers.
  8. The combination MBP indicates average boiling temperatures, for example in refrigerators.
  9. The combination HBP indicates the high boiling temperatures at which liquid dryers operate.
  10. The additional symbol T indicates the ability to operate at high ambient temperatures and unstable mains voltage.
  11. The last symbol indicates the starting characteristics of the compressor, which depend on the installed electrical equipment.
  12. The letter K indicates the ability to work with a capillary tube.
