How to quickly and easily remove store labels from dishes

Once I came to visit my distant relative. I look and all the plates and cups have labels on the bottom. I was very surprised by this fact, and a relative complained that it was impossible to remove the sticker from the dishes. It cannot be touched by nails, and tearing it off with something sharp is not an option. Scratches may remain. Without thinking twice, I told her several ways. My favorite is with a hairdryer.

Hairdryer vs stickers on plates

Why is this method your favorite? It's simple. The stickers fly off the dishes themselves in a matter of seconds. There is no need to rub, pry, or scratch anything. No stink from fusion fluids. Which, by the way, harm the skin of your hands and can “eat” the colorful design on the dishes. And another five minutes is enough to clean a large set of dishes.

To remove the sticker I do the following:

  1. I turn on the regular hair dryer I use to dry my hair at maximum temperature and speed.
  2. I bring it almost close to the sticker.
  3. I blow it for 15-20 seconds.

Usually this time is enough for the label to fly off. Be prepared to catch her. Otherwise, it will be blown away by a stream of air from a hairdryer, and you will have to look under the tables. In my opinion, this method would be ideal. If it were not for one “but” - if the dishes are of high quality and expensive, then the labels will stick very tightly. Apparently they use some kind of super glue. Then you have to resort to other tricks.

How to remove a sticker from a book?

Stores often paste price tags and barcodes onto the covers of books and magazines, which spoil the appearance. You can remove an unnecessary label by carefully picking up the tip or gluing tape on top and sharply tearing it off (not suitable for paper). Heating and special products, such as Label Off or Defender, which are sold in office supply and hardware stores, also work.

Window cleaner

If the sticker is on glassware, it is logical to use glass (window) cleaning products. I've been cleaning pink Mister Muscle windows for years now. When new plastic windows were installed, I tried spraying it on the branded sticker. And it came off quite easily. Then I tried it on glass cups. And again the result is positive. The main thing is that the product is for glass, which means the glassware will not be damaged.

What do we have to do:

  1. Pry up the edge of the sticker (just a little).
  2. Spray a little dishwashing detergent onto the label.
  3. Wait 2-5 minutes.
  4. Wipe off the sticker with a cloth.

All it takes is a few movements back and forth. The paper rolls up along with the glue. If anything remains, I apply the window cleaner again. I don't think it's necessary to use Mr. Muscle. The composition of glass cleaners is the same, plus or minus.

Nail polish remover

I still remember the times when nail polish was removed with acetone, a strong solvent. Today there is some other composition in the jars. The liquid hardly smells, and it seems to me that it dissolves the varnish worse. I myself do not use these products; I have been applying gel polish for many years. But the jars remained standing at home. One of them with that same smelly liquid with acetone. “Marigold” is called, with a blue label. This is what we need.

Nail polish remover can remove stickers from dishes without leaving any traces. But it can only be used on glass and ceramics without a pattern. It can ruin plastic and paints.

To remove stickers from glass (ceramics):

  1. Soak a cotton pad in nail polish remover.
  2. Place it on top of the sticker.
  3. We wait a few minutes (1-2 minutes is enough).
  4. Easy for three.
  5. The label is destroyed and remains on the cotton wool.

This is the surest remedy against stickers. They can also remove any remaining glue. For example, if a piece of paper was unsuccessfully torn off and traces remained under it.

How to remove glue with Dimexide?

To remove super glue from laminate or any other material: plastic, metal, linoleum or soft things (the product is very gentle on any type of surface), moisten a cotton pad with dimexide and, using smooth, rubbing movements, wipe the super glue from the surface.

Essential oils

My favorites are cedarwood and orange essential oils. I love these smells since childhood. I turn on the aroma lamp, and I don’t even need a cup of coffee to cheer me up. Meanwhile, essential oils not only tone and uplift, but also dissolve glue residues well. If you want to remove the label from your dishes and have fun at the same time, this method is ideal.

Dishes are cleaned quickly and easily:

  1. Turn the plates (saucers, cups) upside down.
  2. Add 1-2 drops of oil to the area to be cleaned.
  3. Leave for 10 minutes.
  4. The glue becomes soft. All that remains is to wipe it with a napkin.

If the label on the dish is intact, this method will not help much. You need to peel it off if possible, and then use essential oil to remove traces of glue.

Amway lifesaver

I used to be skeptical about Amway. Until I developed an allergy to regular mass-market detergents. The palms were terribly itchy and covered with purple-red flaky spots. Creepy. The boss, seeing my hands, advised me to try dishwashing detergent from Amway DISH DROPS home. It seemed expensive to me, but I didn’t really have to choose. At first I was disappointed with the purchase. When the concentrate is diluted, it turns out to be a very liquid product with a pungent odor.

It's funny to me now. After just a couple of days, I completely changed my opinion about him. I dilute the concentrate 1 to 9 with water in a spray gun. 5 sprays in a bowl with a little warm water, and wash a whole mountain of dishes. After washing, there is no residue or film left, the dishes literally shine. There is no smell left either, and no streaks either. And most importantly, my hands are fine. And all the dirt is washed off with a bang, even if the dishes stood in the sink all night.

What I mean is that the Amway product can easily wash off not only food residues, but also stickers on new dishes. And not only on glass and ceramic, but also on plastic. When using it, you don’t have to worry about the paint fading. This is how I remove stickers:

  1. I fill a wide bowl with warm water.
  2. I spray Amway product into the water (4-5 sprays).
  3. I place the dishes in the bowl for 3-5 minutes.
  4. I wash the labels along with the glue using a sponge and the same soap solution.
  5. I rinse it off.

Once I tried to remove the sticker using Amway home SA8 stain remover spray. He did even better. The sticker and glue instantly softened and were easily wiped off with a napkin. But this is a last resort. After all, the stain remover is intended for clothing, not dishes from which you eat.

How to wipe off the residue

After peeling off the label, not only glue may remain, but also a thin layer of sticker. Below we will discuss the main cleaning methods that will help you get rid of this easily and effectively.

Oil

Lubricate the stain with vegetable or butter. After a few minutes, the remaining sticker will be easily wiped off.

Soap solution

Mix a bar of soap with water. Wipe the area with the remaining label with the solution. After 10 minutes, the dirt will be cleaned without much effort.

Acetone

Acetone is one of the most effective solvents. Apply the product to a cotton pad and wipe the surface with glue residue with it. The glue will dissolve in 2-3 minutes. After using the solvent, rinse the dishes.

Anticlean

Apply any solvent to a piece of cloth or cotton pad. Wipe the dirty surface of the utensil with it. It is not recommended to use this method for plastic dishes.

Kerosene or gasoline

Pour kerosene onto a cotton pad. Wipe the damaged surface. After 3 minutes, remove the sticker by prying it off with a knife.

Vinegar

If there are glue residues on the dishes, use acetic acid. Apply a little vinegar to a cloth and wipe the surface with the glue with it. After 5 minutes the sticky layer will dissolve.

Hairdryer

Use the hot setting of a hair dryer to get rid of glue residue or easily peel off a label.

Boiling water

Place the contaminated container in a bowl of boiling water. After a minute, the remaining sticker will be easily removed, and the stickiness will completely disappear.

Soda

Mix a spoonful of baking soda with detergent. Apply this mixture to the surface. After a couple of minutes, the remnants of the sticker will easily come off the dishes.

Cleaning powders

Apply any cleaning powder to the sponge. Walk the sponge over the contaminated surface. After 2-4 minutes, label residues will be easy to clean.

My Husband's Ways

My husband and I have radically different opinions about various modern innovations. He thinks that all these jars and bottles are a whim. He says why reinvent the wheel if you can use traditional methods. Can:

  • Wipe off the sticker from the dishes with vegetable oil. You drip it, rub it with a cloth, and it rolls into a lump.
  • Dissolve the label and remaining glue with white spirit. I applied a cotton wool soaked in white spirit where needed, waited a couple of seconds and rubbed.

The methods really work. My husband demonstrated. So it may well be useful to someone. But I really don’t like the smell of white spirit, and instead of vegetable oil, I’d rather take essential oil. And also, if the set is expensive, like Luminark, using rustic methods is somehow out of hand. This is my personal opinion.

How to remove sticker from furniture?

In cases with furniture, it is better to remove the sticker immediately, then it will most likely easily come off the surface, you just need to moisten it with a soap solution.

For old, stubborn stickers, the following methods are suitable:

  • Heating with a hairdryer. Just do not overdo it, so as not to damage the varnished coating; it is better to heat the sticker longer, but at medium temperature.
  • Solvents and alcohol-containing products. Well suited for unvarnished and unpainted surfaces.
  • Vegetable oil. Apply a cloth soaked in oil to the sticker and let the oil soak in. Then carefully remove the label piece by piece.

Universal WD-40

Another option suggested by my husband. But this time our views converged. This product is one of the most frequently used in our home. It helps lubricate door hinges, helps clean shoes, and performs a bunch of other functions.

For those who don't know, WD-40 is a very slippery lubricant. Despite the fact that it glides well, it does not leave greasy marks. The product, on the contrary, is used to remove grease, as well as rust, glue and various stains.

Cleaning dishes from WD-40 stickers is very simple:

  1. Spray a little product onto the edge of the label (glue spot).
  2. We move it to the side with something flat and not sharp (for example, a plastic card or a stack of plasticine).

The paper and glue are removed due to good sliding. 30 seconds is enough to clear everything.

It also happens that the sticker is based on your word of honor. This is immediately obvious. It seems like it costs nothing to peel it off by hand. But no. The top paper layer peels off, leaving traces of glue on the dishes. You have to go get nail polish remover or something like that. Therefore, I don’t take risks, and in such cases I always wet the labels with cold water. Hot water will cause paper to fall apart. And in the cold, not very high-quality glue ceases to be so sticky. A couple of minutes in the water, one movement and the flimsy label is removed. How do you remove stickers from dishes?

Remove sticker from dishes

There are several simple, but at the same time effective ways to remove sticker marks from dishes.

Vegetable oil.

Take the kitchen item that needs to be cleaned of glue and wash it well using a dish sponge and detergent. After this, carefully remove the wet parts of the stickers that easily come off the surface. Pour a small amount of vegetable oil onto a sponge and wipe off any remaining tags. After this, rinse the kitchen utensils again in warm water and remove any remaining dirt.

Nail polish remover.

To remove label marks from dishes, remove the top paper layer by hand.

Then soak a lint-free cloth in nail polish remover and rub it well over the adhesive backing of the tags.

Wash the dishes with detergent and make sure all unsightly marks are gone.

To make the process of removing stickers from dishes safer, use alcohol instead of nail polish remover.

Lemon.

You can wash the adhesive base of the labels from the pan or wipe the adhesive base of the labels from the plate using lemon juice:

  1. To do this, take a fresh lemon and cut it in half;
  2. Carefully wipe the surface that needs treatment with the half;
  3. Wash well with detergent;
  4. Repeat the procedure until the adhesive from the stickers is completely removed.

Wipe off the glue after the label from the bottle

Glass jars designed for storing cereals, elegant glasses or pot-bellied decanters are quite popular pieces of tableware that every family has. How to remove sticky sticker stains from glassware? Let's figure it out!

Hot air.

Bright stickers certainly attract attention, but to start using glass glasses or plates, you should get rid of the labels once and for all.

This can be done using a regular hairdryer.

So, take a household appliance, turn it on and direct a stream of hot air at the sticker.

Warm it up for a few minutes, carefully pick it up with a sharp object, such as a knife, and remove the label from the surface.

Hot water.

This method, which helps remove label marks from a jar, is a little similar to the one described above. Only in this case, instead of hot air, boiling water is used:

  1. Fill a bottle or glass with hot water and wait 20-25 minutes;
  2. Drain the boiling water and try to pick up the adhesive label with a sharp object;
  3. If it doesn't come off well, repeat the procedure.

Important! To prevent the glass from bursting upon contact with hot water, place a regular spoon in the glass. Pour boiling water over it so that the metal takes the brunt of the “blow.”

Specialized detergent or dishwasher.

To be sure to remove the glue stain from the label from the bottle and without putting in almost any effort, take a special product that is designed to remove super glue.

Soak a lint-free cloth in it and wipe all the labels well. Wait for the time indicated in the instructions and wash off the stickers in warm water.

By the way, another method that allows you to wash the adhesive composition from a glass bottle or plate is called “washing in the dishwasher.”

That is, you just need to load the dishes into the household appliance and wait for the washing process to finish.

Remove sticker from pots and pans

How to remove a sticker from a frying pan without damaging the surface of the dish? How to clean the inside of a pan so you don’t have to worry about cooking in it? Use one of three mega effective methods.

Gasoline for lighters.

Buy the most common gasoline used to refill lighters. Soak a cotton pad in it and wipe all the colorful stickers and decals well. Wait a few minutes and then remove the tags using a sharp object.

Information. However, after the dishes are washed from stickers, a not very pleasant, specific smell may settle in it. Lemon can be used to remove it by wiping the treated surface. Soda.

Soda is a fairly universal product that can not only give a pot or pan the desired cleanliness, but also help quickly remove marks after sticking.

Pour a small amount of baking soda into a flat plate, wet a sponge and scoop up the white substance.

Wipe the kitchen utensils well with a sponge, repeating the procedure until the sticker is completely removed.

Attention! Do not use baking soda to remove sticker marks on enamel cookware. It may scratch the surface. Glass cleaner.

To remove a label from a jar, wipe off a sticker mark on a pan, or remove a sticker label from a frying pan, use an alcohol-based glass cleaner. Apply it generously to the paper and scrub the surface well with a stiff brush.

How to remove sticky stains from stickers

Surely many people are familiar with this situation: the top paper layer of the sticker came off easily from the dishes, but traces of glue that remained on the surface cannot be cleaned by anything. How to wipe off a mark after a sticker? Simply and easily!

Table vinegar 9%

Soak a cotton pad in vinegar and thoroughly use it on your kitchen utensils. Wait 5-10 minutes, wet the mark from the label and carefully clean it with a knife. If a positive result is not achieved, repeat the procedure.

Melamine sponge.

To remove label marks from the bottle, use a special melamine sponge.

Wipe the pre-moistened or dry surface well with it and watch how the unpleasant adhesive stains leave their “positions” once and for all.

Kerosene.

Sometimes, in order to wipe off a sticker mark from dishes, you have to use really “heavy artillery.” It is this role that kerosene plays in this case:

  1. So, put on rubber gloves, prepare a lint-free cloth and kerosene;
  2. Dip a rag in the caustic liquid and quickly wipe the surface with it;
  3. Wait 1-2 minutes and rinse the dishes well;
  4. If the adhesive composition still adheres to the surface, then repeat the procedure, but be careful not to damage the kitchen utensils.

It can be quite difficult to remove labels from dishes, and sometimes you have to use different “grandmother’s” methods to achieve results. At the same time, to achieve 100% effect, you may need to combine several methods, but the cleanliness of kitchen utensils is worth all the effort.
