Those who have small children or animals at home often face a very specific problem - the unpleasant odor of feces, which is quickly absorbed into clothes, the surface of upholstered furniture (sofas) and carpets. The most obvious way to get rid of the smell of feces is to take the affected item to the dry cleaner or use special odor neutralizers (they are available in any hardware store). However, if the smell is not old, home remedies that any housewife has in stock will be of great help.
What you should absolutely not do:
- Try to “overpower” the smell of feces with perfume, eau de toilette or deodorant spray.
- Use gasoline or turpentine: these substances do not erode well and leave stains if used incorrectly.
- Try to remove the smell from a dirty surface: first vacuum upholstered furniture or carpet, wipe wooden or plastic furniture with a damp sponge, and wash clothes.
When working with caustic substances (vinegar, bleach, etc.), do not forget about the safety rules: use household gloves and a respirator, do not leave products accessible to children or animals.
Methods for getting rid of fecal odor from sofas and carpets
Algorithm of actions
- Remove the feces themselves from the surface.
- Wipe the desired area with soap and water (you can use absolutely any soap).
- After watering, give the area time to dry thoroughly or dry it yourself.
- If you cannot get rid of the smell, then you need to use additional means:
- Absorbing substances. Sprinkle the feces with charcoal (regular activated charcoal or charcoal), which must first be crushed. Coffee or tea leaves after drinking tea are also suitable. Apply, let dry and remove with a vacuum cleaner.
- Soda/salt. If the smell is not absorbed, then baking soda will help. Mix baking soda with water until a paste forms, apply to the stain and wait until it dries. You can scrub the stain a little with a brush. This process can be repeated twice. The actions with salt are the same as with soda. Just for wood and plastic surfaces, you can add mint oil.
- Iodine/potassium permanganate. Dilute 15 drops of iodine or potassium permanganate in one liter of water. Place a soaked rag on the stain and remove it after half an hour. We remember that such a solution can color a light surface.
- Vinegar/lemon. Dilute 1 spoon of vinegar in 400 ml. water and add a couple of drops of dishwashing detergent. Apply the product for 20 minutes, then rinse and repeat the procedure. Lemon can replace vinegar, but you need more lemon.
- Bleach/hydrogen peroxide. Suitable for white surfaces only. You need to rub in and after half an hour, rinse and dry. Mix peroxide with water one to one + soap. Before applying such a product, the stain should be treated with vinegar, sprinkled with soda, and the product should be applied to the soda. After one hour, remove the residue.

Basic methods
In addition to washing and ironing, many home remedies can rid clothes of odors. Let's consider the rating of effective methods.
Drying
To avoid the musty smell of dampness, things must be dried thoroughly. Outerwear is dried on hangers, washed linen is ironed until the moisture has completely evaporated.
Special cleaners, deodorants for products
Ready-made neutralizer sprays help remove unwanted odors. Among the best are OdorGone Sport and Professional, SmellOff universal, DuftaFeet.
Home Remedies
In addition to expensive household chemicals, many folk remedies can remove odors from clothes; the main thing is to choose the right ones based on the color and composition of the fabrics.
Vinegar 9%
Ways to use table vinegar:
- soak things in cold water for a couple of hours, proportions - 50 milliliters of product per 5 liters of water;
- individual stains from light-colored laundry can be removed along with the smell in the following way - combine baking soda and vinegar in equal parts and apply the mixture to the stains for 10-20 minutes.
You can refresh your clothes by spraying them with a vinegar solution (one part to 3 parts water) from a spray bottle.
Baking soda
You can get rid of the musty spirit from your laundry by soaking the items in cold water with 2 tablespoons of soda. You can add 1-2 spoons to the machine when washing (for light-colored items). If you sprinkle dry soda on things and fold them tightly for 1-2 hours, you can remove heavy amber of any nature.
Borax
Manufacturers themselves often add borax to laundry detergents. If you don’t have ready-made powder at home, you can add 100 grams of borax to the drum of the machine.
Turpentine
You can remove mold stains from delicate fabrics with turpentine. The stain is moistened with a swab soaked in turpentine. Clay is applied and ironed through paper with a hot iron. Then they wash it.
Ammonia
Dissolve a spoonful of ammonia in a liter of water and spray it over the surface of the clothing with a spray bottle. A great way to get rid of odors from fur and wool items. Linen and cotton fabrics can be washed by adding 4-6 tablespoons of alcohol per 10 liters of water.
Oxygen bleach
Neutralization of any odors is one of the advantages of oxygen bleaches. They are used to refresh fabrics that can be bleached.
Coffee beans
Coffee clogs foreign odors with its own aroma. Bags of grains are laid out in cabinets. Coffee grounds can be used to remove odor stains from dark clothing.
Lemon juice or acid
White items will lose unwanted amber and yellow stains will disappear if you wash or soak them in water with the addition of lemon juice (a tablespoon). Apply a mixture of juice and soda to the stains.
Potassium permangantsovka
Colored and dark things are soaked in a pale pink solution of potassium permanganate (1 hour) - along with the microbes, the moldy smell goes away.

Features of design and principle of operation
Before you start cleaning, you need to understand the main features of various types of structures, as well as the principle of their operation.
Cumulative
Most often, people install storage-type boilers in their apartments. The main difference between these models and other products is that the heating component is located inside the tank. The liquid is heated using electricity. During the heating process, the liquid constantly circulates inside the product.
Among the disadvantages of storage models is that they consume electricity throughout the day. Because of this, one device consumes more than one kilowatt of electricity every day. Therefore, such models are not suitable for people who want to reduce energy consumption.
Flow-through
People who are interested in more compact products should pay attention to instantaneous boilers. Such designs are very small, as their size does not exceed the dimensions of an average shoe box.
Thanks to this, flow-through heaters will not take up too much space and will fit into any interior.
The main advantage of this boiler system is its cost, since it is several times cheaper than storage equipment. They also do not consume a lot of electricity, which reduces electricity consumption when heating the liquid.
Electric
Products that operate using electricity are widely popular. They are known for their ease of use and reliability. Heating of cold liquid is carried out using a heating element, which is installed inside the heating system. Tanks of electric models are made of metal materials that do not rust and prevent the development of corrosion.
The advantages of electric boilers include the following:
- ease of installation, allowing the structure to be installed by people who have never done it before;
- the ability to connect the product to two or more sources of water;
- large supply of heated liquid.
Among the disadvantages of electrical structures are:
- prolonged heating of the liquid;
- bulkiness.
Gas
Such containers heat the liquid using a built-in gas burner. Boilers of this type come with a closed and open combustion chamber. It is recommended to use closed models, as they do not require additional air flow to improve combustion.
Gas boilers have the following advantages:
- low cost compared to electrical structures;
- corrosion resistance;
- high-quality thermal insulation, thanks to which the water will not cool down for a long time.
The disadvantages of gas boiler designs include the following:
- big sizes;
- continuous gas flow to maintain liquid temperature.
The reason for the spread of unpleasant odor from feces
Responsible for the foul odor of feces, skatole is a special type of crystal that has a repulsive odor. It is found in essential oils and is formed during the decay of certain protein substances. However, if it gets on things, it doesn’t wash out well. It is difficult, and often impossible, to get rid of odors that have penetrated into the texture of upholstery or fabrics.
Adds troubles and illnesses to people, animals, birds. With different diseases, feces can “smell” differently – from pungent and putrid to sour. It is important to understand that even in microdoses, feces can ruin the lives of people who are in a room or car with such “odors.”
Features of pollution
Children's diapers often leak or they don't have time to make it to the toilet. In such a situation, fecal stains appear on things. These are fairly persistent stains that get into the fibers of the fabric and are difficult to wash off. To remove such stains, you need to choose the right product.
First of all, the remaining feces should be removed. This can be done with laundry soap or an old toothbrush. Then the clothes need to be soaked. If you wash the stain right away, it will come off easily.
Normal indicators
Normal bowel movements should occur daily or every two days 1-2 times without any straining. After defecation there should be a feeling of comfort. A deviation from the norm is considered if a person goes to the toilet “in a big way” once in three days, or diarrhea bothers him for 5 or more days.
The amount of feces varies from 150 to 400 grams. The more plant foods, the more bowel movements. The color of stool is brown. Deviations in color are acceptable after eating certain foods; for example, if you overuse carrots, your stool may take on an orange tint. But if it turns dark green or black, and this lasts more than 5 days, then most likely a disease has appeared: cirrhosis or an ulcer.
The consistency of your stool can also tell you a lot. Ideally, stool consists of 30% processed food debris and 30% water. Another indicator is the shape of feces. In a healthy person, they should have a cylindrical and sausage shape.
Functions of the glands
Each animal has its own individual smell, by which they distinguish each other. It arises as a result of the work of the glands.
Skin
The glands located in the skin of dogs are called sebaceous or alveolar. They secrete a secretion that lubricates the fur, which is the source of the dog's odor.
Functions of the skin glands:
- identification;
- moisture preservation.
The more skin glands a dog has, the stronger his odor. The number of ducts is determined by the breed.
Sweat
Dogs' sweat glands are located between the pads on their paws. They also secrete a secretion with a special aroma. That's why dogs smell each other's tracks.
How to eliminate the smell of feces in the house?
When looking for a solution to the problem, you should not choose aggressive compounds and aromatic concentrators. Deodorants and fresheners only mask the problem, but cleaning products may well cause harm and also cause an allergic reaction. When figuring out how to get rid of the smell of feces in an apartment, you should pay attention to dry fog.
Dry fog is a special product that has a consistency with microcrystals. It got its name due to its resemblance to fog, but in reality the dry version is much more effective. Its humidity level is zero, and therefore it does not leave any stains or streaks on the treated surface.
Dry fog technology:
- Allows you to get rid of any unpleasant odors - not just the smell of feces. Also, fumes, odors of sulfur, mold, fire, old or dead person, urine and pet fur cannot resist it.
- Safe for people - the composition quickly erodes and does not require additional processing or cleaning. There is no need for ventilation after use. The technology allows you to quickly and efficiently process children's and medical premises. You can also remove odors from the room of an allergy sufferer.
- It is effective - each crystal reaches 0.25 microns, and therefore the composition quickly penetrates into any cracks, crevices, bends, corners, chips and eliminates unpleasant odors even in such hard-to-reach places.
- Does not require preliminary preparation. There is no need to move the furniture - the fog covers any surface on which there were traces, so as not to leave behind any trace or smell.
- Availability. You can order the service to your home, office, or for treating utility rooms or cars.

Customers can choose from several flavor options - from forest, cinnamon, rose and citrus to anti-tobacco and floral, apple. The steam is generated by a special installation; the jet is released through a nozzle and quickly spreads throughout the room. The compact equipment is capable of generating enough dry fog so that within half an hour a large room can be treated and completely cleared of the smell of feces.

Prevention
Preventive measures help prevent the stench from feces from spreading throughout the apartment. In order not to spoil the air, you should:
- Keep an eye on your pets if they like to look for a place to go to the toilet in corners, on carpets, or upholstery. The best solution would be to install the tray in a secluded and quiet place. Additionally, you can place various aromatic substances in your favorite “latrine” places.
- Use diapers if we are talking about a child or an adult. Sick people require special care. For them, you can find large diapers at the pharmacy that will solve the problem.
Attention! If your poop problem is related to your sewer system, you will need to find out what is causing the system problem. It is possible that when laying the pipes, they were positioned at the wrong angle or clogged areas formed. Dry mist quickly eliminates sewer stench thanks to its properties.

You shouldn’t prescribe laxatives to yourself, get carried away with enemas, or delay visiting a gastroenterologist. You may miss something important and waste valuable time. Don't take risks - contact a specialist.
In what cases is it necessary to consult a doctor?
You should consult a doctor if foul-smelling stool appears in combination with other signs of gastrointestinal pathology:
- oily feces with an unpleasant odor - you should look for pathology of the pancreas, as the digestion of fats is impaired;
- the smell of rotten eggs (hydrogen sulfide) - indicates dysbiosis and active fermentation processes inside the intestines;
- the smell of vinegar (ammonia) - may indicate dysbacteriosis and increased decay processes;
- sweet unpleasant odor - when infected with cholera;
- the aroma of acetone - indicates protein starvation or can be the first sign of diabetes; it also appears after drinking large amounts of alcohol;
- The smell of rotten fish may indicate a helminth infestation.
Should you use store-bought air fresheners?
Of course, you can buy special air fresheners in the supermarket that are designed to absorb unpleasant odors. Sometimes such remedies are a real salvation. But remember that most often air fresheners have their own scent, and therefore can interrupt the aroma of your perfume. In addition, some substances present in the product cause allergic reactions upon contact with the skin.

Harm
Like sewer odors, the smell of feces in a house or apartment can also be harmful to all residents. Household members who are constantly in such a room are at risk of developing various diseases or ailments from:
- Hydrogen sulfide is released during the decay process and is responsible for the characteristic stench.
- Ammonia and carbon dioxide. Even in small quantities, such substances are quite capable of causing harm to health.
- Pathogenic bacteria. Feces are an excellent place for the development of pathogenic microflora, which can cause various infections.
Attention! You shouldn’t think long about how to remove the smell of feces; you should look for help on specialized portals. To eliminate stench, special products have already been developed that quickly and effectively deal with unpleasant “odors.”
No amount of weathering or wiping with a damp cloth will save the situation. Special aggressive agents will not be effective either. They can damage the upholstery of upholstered furniture and ruin the fabric, but do not solve the problem.
Preventive measures
Let's look at how to prevent persistent unpleasant odors on clothes:
- Get rid of the constant unpleasant smell in the house, otherwise your clothes will inevitably have a smell.
- Store dirty laundry in mesh baskets, wash them more often, and avoid allowing things to remain piled up for a long time.
- Keep the automatic machine dry and clean, leave the door open for ventilation.
- Place things for storage only in a completely dry condition.
- To prevent laundry from souring, do not keep it soaked in basins for too long, 1-3 hours is enough.
- Clean storage areas, wash cabinets and chests of drawers. Keep unused old items separately.
- If the item smells of sweat or has acquired a different smell, wash it immediately, do not put it in the closet, so as not to infect the entire wardrobe with an unpleasant spirit.
High humidity should not be allowed in the apartment, otherwise the spirit of mustiness and dampness will permeate things. Housing needs to be ventilated regularly.
A person is constantly surrounded by thousands of smells, but it is not necessary to wear them on himself. In order for things to smell clean, you need to take care of your clothes, wash them on time, and air them in the fresh air. Many simple methods and professional products help remove unpleasant odors and make clothes clean and fragrant with freshness.

Sour stool
The most common cause of a sour stench is foods that were eaten the day before. Less often, but still some diseases can provoke a sour smell of stool:
- intestinal infections;
- Crohn's disease;
- allergies to certain foods;
- celiac disease;
- insufficient amount of pancreatic enzyme;
- inflammatory processes.
In addition to the stench, diarrhea may appear and excessive gas may be tormented. In acute intestinal disorders, vomiting may occur.
In infants, this problem appears against the background of an allergic reaction to artificial complementary foods. In children under 2 years of age, this problem may be associated with rotavirus infection, colitis, dysbiosis or fermentation dispersion.
If your body temperature rises to 39 degrees against the background of a sour stool odor, it is recommended to immediately consult a doctor.
Most often, getting rid of this problem is very simple. It is necessary to normalize nutrition, adults need to stop drinking alcohol, and infants should change their diet.
General washing rules
To quickly remove baby shit and not harm the baby, it is recommended to follow these rules:
- Use a powder that is specifically designed for young children.
- You should not use formulations that contain chlorine or optical brighteners, as well as fragrances.
- Use very hot water. This will help get rid of all germs.
- Use natural soap for manual processing.
- Do not overload the washing machine. This prevents quality washing.
How to properly remove
In order to prevent the spread of bacteria and harmful substances in the house, it is important to carry out general cleaning of the premises in a timely manner, treat places where pet excrement accumulates and bathrooms.
The surfaces of sofas, carpets, mattresses, and furniture are often contaminated with feces. Sequencing:
- remove feces from the surface of furniture;
- wipe the contaminated area with soapy water;
- Wipe the stain with a clean, dry cloth and let dry.
If the unpleasant odor remains, more effective options are used.
Absorbents
To remove stench from feces, medicinal substances or products that have an adsorbing effect are used.
Apply:
- Activated carbon;
- mustard;
- ground coffee;
- charcoal;
- tea leaves
The products can be applied dry or diluted with water to a paste. Keep on the contaminated area for 2-4 hours. It is convenient to collect with a damp cloth or vacuum cleaner.
Soda and salt
To remove odor from hands or smooth furniture surfaces, use table salt mixed with mint essential oil. The product will help cope with contamination and leave behind a light, fresh aroma.
Baking soda can be used to remove stench from upholstered furniture or carpets. The powder is mixed with water to a paste-like consistency and applied to the stain. Allow to dry and remove with a vacuum cleaner.
Iodine or potassium permanganate
Iodine or potassium permanganate diluted in water will help deal with stains and unpleasant odors on dark furniture. The required piece of cloth is moistened in the solution and distributed on the dirty surface, after 30 minutes it is removed. If necessary, repeat the procedure. The smell coming from the cat's litter box can also be eliminated with iodine or potassium permanganate. The surface is washed with a weak solution of a chemical and wiped dry.
Vinegar and citric acid
You can remove the unpleasant odor using a 9% vinegar solution. Dissolve a teaspoon in 500 ml of water and add a drop of dishwashing detergent. Citric acid is dissolved in a ratio of 4:1. The solution is whipped into foam and applied to the contaminated area. Wipe dry after 20 minutes.
Bleach or peroxide
Chlorine-containing bleach, which is used to treat the surface for half an hour, will help rid white fabric of traces of feces. It is important to rinse off the liquid thoroughly so that there are no streaks left.
Hydrogen peroxide mixed with a small amount of water and laundry detergent or dishwashing detergent can remove stains well. The substance is diluted in a ratio of 1 to 1, applied to the stain after treating it with vinegar and soda. Wipe with a clean dry cloth.
Toilet washing rules
High-quality cleaning will help keep your toilet clean and prevent unpleasant odors. It should be carried out with good ventilation and using personal protective equipment.
Toilet cleaning rules:
- After soaking a rag in hot water, wipe the entire outside of the toilet.
- Using your chosen cleaning product, apply it in a circle under the rim so that it flows over the entire surface of the toilet.
- Leave the drug to act for the time specified according to the instructions.
- Clean the inner surface of the toilet with a brush. You should definitely pay attention to the bottom and the area near the rim.
- Rinse the toilet and brush. To do this, flush the toilet several times in a row.
- Once again, more thoroughly, rinse the outside of the toilet.
- Disinfect the seat.
- Rinse with clean water.
- Dry the exterior and seat with paper towels.
What you can do yourself
If a child has loose stools with an odor, first of all, you need to call a doctor at home. In the absence of high fever, rash and other complications, you can get by by calling your local pediatrician. If a child exhibits signs of dehydration, convulsions, changes in skin tone and other phenomena, you should immediately seek emergency medical help.
Strong-smelling diarrhea requires the same measures as regular intestinal upset.
- As often as possible, you need to give your child clean water in small portions. Fresh and canned juices, baby food, coffee, cocoa and other drinks are best avoided. It is allowed to drink dried fruit compote, but in small quantities.
- If the appetite remains, then the food should be easily digestible. Under no circumstances should you feed your baby fried, fatty or rough foods. It is better to make portions small.
- Before the doctor arrives, you need to carefully monitor the child’s condition. It is important to provide the specialist with as much information as possible about the course of the disorder. Therefore, everything should be recorded: the frequency and time of stool, features of feces, thermometer readings at different periods of the day, and so on.
Allergic reaction of the body
This kind of reaction of the body is expressed in the body’s refusal to accept certain foods. The most common allergens are:
- chocolate;
- cocoa and products containing it;
- fish;
- seafood;
- honey;
- citrus;
- cow's milk.
In addition to diarrhea and foul-smelling stools, a person is bothered by dry and itchy skin, mucus flowing from the nasal passages and tears from the eyes. Enzyme deficiency also affects the smell of stool. Poor nutrition, as well as the presence of congenital pathologies in which certain elements are not absorbed by the intestines, can cause a lack of enzymes, due to which food is fully digested. As a result, a foul odor emanates from the stool.
Enzyme deficiency
Enzymopathy is a pathology in which the production of digestive enzymes necessary for the absorption and breakdown of certain products is partially or completely stopped. It can be congenital or occur as a result of various disorders in the functioning of internal organs. One of the forms of fermentopathy in adults is lactase deficiency - a lack of the enzyme responsible for the absorption of milk sugar. Symptoms of lactase deficiency in patients over 18 years of age may include abdominal pain, foamy or watery stools with a strong, foul odor, and weight loss associated with poor absorption of milk protein.
All signs of pathology appear mainly after consuming fermented milk products or products based on whole cow's milk. It should be noted that true lactase deficiency is rarely diagnosed - such patients are forced to adhere to a special diet throughout their lives that excludes dairy products. Temporary lactase deficiency is treated with enzyme preparations (Lactazar, Lactase).
Eliminating stool odor. Treatment
If the stench of feces appears against the background of dysbacteriosis, then the following drugs are used in therapy: “Bifidumbacterin”, “Lactofiltrum” and others.
Problems often appear due to an allergic reaction. Some of the most allergenic foods include honey, milk, citrus fruits, and chocolate. Along with a change in the smell of feces, a rash and peeling often appear on the skin. Flatulence, diarrhea and even chills can also be tormented. Food allergies can be cured in only one way - eliminating foods that trigger them from the diet. The following drugs are used in symptomatic therapy: Suprastin, Loratadine, Claritin and Tavegil. In addition to taking medications, it is recommended to cleanse the intestines of toxins and waste; for this you can use activated carbon, Polyphepan or Neosmectin.
Foul-smelling stool and fever
First, the patient experiences profuse vomiting containing particles of undigested food, after which the temperature rises (up to 39°-40°), foul diarrhea occurs, and symptoms of dehydration increase. General signs of intoxication, which include lack of appetite, nausea, drowsiness and weakness, persist with intestinal infections for 3-5 days, after which improvement occurs.
Treatment of any intestinal infections and poisoning is always comprehensive. The basis is detoxification and rehydration therapy. One of the dangers of dehydration is the rapid leaching of potassium and magnesium ions, which can lead to acute heart failure, therefore an important task in the treatment of ACI is the restoration of water and electrolyte balance. Further treatment is carried out using the following drugs:
- antidiarrheals (“Lopedium”, “Diara”, “Loperamide”);
- centrally acting drugs to stop vomiting (“Cerucal”);
- antimicrobial drugs with a broad spectrum of action (“Nifuroxazide”, “Enterofuril”);
- probiotics and prebiotics to populate the intestines with beneficial bacteria and restore the normal balance of microflora (Linex, Bifiform);
- antiviral drugs for viral infections (Ergoferon, Arbidol);
- antispasmodics to eliminate paroxysmal intestinal spasms (“Drotaverine”, “Spazmol”).
For the entire period of treatment, the patient is prescribed a gentle diet, excluding dairy products, chips and crackers with flavors, fatty, spicy and fried foods. Note! With properly selected therapy, normalization of stool should occur on the fifth day of treatment.

If the cause of the strange smell of stool is poor digestion, the patient will have to follow a special diet. It is necessary to remove smoked foods, fatty meats, spices and hot sauces from the diet. Another important condition is complete abstinence from alcohol.
Bowel diseases
An unpleasant smell of feces in an adult or child is often associated with gastrointestinal diseases. To determine the cause, it is necessary to examine the intestines and take a stool test, and do a coprogram.
If a diagnosis of “enteritis” or “colitis” has been made, then most likely, along with a change in smell, the patient is worried about flatulence, bloating, intestinal spasms, and pressure in the lower abdomen. For treatment, first of all, table No. 4 according to Pevzner is used. As a symptomatic treatment, carminatives, antispasmodics, laxatives, and, in extreme cases, antibiotics are used.
In conclusion, here are a few interesting clinical cases from our practice:
Constipation and... thyroid: where is the connection?
A young girl, 23 years old, contacted us. It turned out that she had been suffering from constipation for 1.5 years! Our doctor carefully interviewed the patient and found out that during pregnancy, 3 years ago, she was diagnosed with a dysfunction of the thyroid gland, but nothing bothered her and no treatment was carried out.
We examined her more thoroughly and found out that the cause of constipation was autoimmune thyroiditis - a common situation in women, when the body “attacks” its own thyroid gland, it is gradually destroyed and the level of hormones drops. One of the symptoms of autoimmune thyroiditis is constipation. Our endocrinologist prescribed treatment, the function of the thyroid gland returned to normal, and joint work with a gastroenterologist yielded results - the constipation went away.
Constipation and something else
A 67-year-old patient came to us with complaints of constipation. Laxatives didn't help. The doctor examined him, but found no significant abnormalities. However, the age and nature of the complaints were alarming, and the patient was sent for a detailed examination.
A blood test revealed a decrease in hemoglobin, an increase in ESR, and occult blood in the stool using the ultrasensitive Colon View test for occult blood in the stool. We performed a colonoscopy, an examination of the intestines using a flexible endoscope, and identified an intestinal tumor. Luckily, we made it on time.

It's easy to remove fecal smell from clothes. Before washing, it is important to consider what fabric it is made of.
Methods:
- rinse in a solution of 9% vinegar or citric acid;
- soak for 10 minutes in a solution of table salt;
- rinse in a solution of ammonia and salt.
Do not wipe the stain with wet wipes or try to mask the smell with others. Typically, the opposite effect occurs and the fabric begins to smell like a mixture of aroma and feces.
Eliminating unpleasant odors from various materials
In the fight against the unpleasant odor from things, it is important not to overdo it, not to damage the fabric, or to spoil the appearance of the clothes.
Wool and silk
Before using any product, you need to test its effect on a small area of fabric. After removing the unpleasant aroma, wool and silk items are washed in cold water.
Turpentine
After soaking a cloth swab with turpentine, thoroughly wipe the contaminated areas. Pour clay onto the treated areas and pass it through the parchment with a hot iron. Then wash and rinse thoroughly.
Washing in ammonia
Take a spoonful of ammonia per liter of cool water. Wool or silk is immersed in water and kept for 10-15 minutes. Then they are washed in special detergents in the delicate mode of the machine.
Baking soda
After adding a spoonful of baking soda to the powder, wash light woolen and silk items in a machine. The bad odor goes away with the dirt.
Cotton, calico or linen
These fabrics can be washed at high temperatures and boiled. The following methods will help refresh fabrics and remove odors.
Salt
2 tablespoons of salt and a spoonful of ammonia are diluted in a liter of water and boiled. Soak things in the resulting solution for an hour. Then machine wash and dry outside.
Onion
A cut onion is used to treat stains; it is used to rub dirt. If you need to refresh the whole thing from the bad amber, squeeze out the juice from the onion, mix it with water and soak the linen for an hour.
Curdled milk
The acid in curdled milk effectively removes various flavors. The items are soaked in yogurt for several hours, then washed as usual.
Light things
To treat light-colored items, do not use dyes such as potassium permanganate or coffee beans. It is better to use vinegar, lemon, soda, and salt.
Advice: it is better to remove dirt and odors from expensive items with complex decor in professional dry cleaners.
Worm infestations
The smell of a child's stool often changes due to the presence of worms. After all, this problem is inherent specifically in children who have not yet reached 14 years of age. At this age, they still do not know how to carefully monitor hygiene.
In addition to the foul odor, the presence of parasites may cause diarrhea or, conversely, constipation, rumbling in the stomach, pale skin, and a decrease in the resistance of the entire body as a whole.
In this case, anthelmintic drugs are used, for example, “Dekaris”, “Nemozol”, “Levamisole” and others. However, you should not prescribe them to your child yourself. First of all, it is necessary to undergo an examination to determine the type of parasites. In addition, all drugs for worms are very toxic, so the dose for the child must be determined by a doctor. The main thing is to get rid of parasites without fail, since there is a risk that in the future the child will develop systemic anemia, since worms feed on blood.
Baking soda
Another fairly inexpensive but effective home remedy to get rid of the problem is baking soda. It can be used both for washing and as a dry cleaner. In the first case, one glass of soda must be added when washing - as a result, you will get clean laundry without any foreign odors.
If you do not want to wash your clothes or the clothes can only be processed using dry cleaning, place them on a clean hard surface, sprinkle everything thoroughly with soda, after a few minutes turn the product over and sprinkle it on the other side. It is recommended to keep baking soda on clothes for at least 12 hours. After this, you just have to take the item outside and shake it out thoroughly. In order to completely remove any remaining baking soda, you can use a brush with soft bristles. Do not rush to put the item in the closet; let it dry thoroughly throughout the day.
Using dry fog
One effective option for getting rid of unpleasant odors is dry fog. It is used not only for treating specific surface areas, but also for apartments, houses, offices, and cars.
The essence of cleaning is to supply a special composition, heated to 500 degrees, through a generator into the room. The room is sanitized and closed for an hour. After the procedure, ventilate and wipe off any possible oily deposits. The advantage of this method is that the particles of the cleaning solution penetrate into the most inaccessible places; there is no need to move the furniture. The fog does not mask odors, but removes them, while killing some pathogens.
The smell can be neutral, or you can choose the flavor according to your personal preferences.
Advantages of the method:
- takes little time;
- leaves no traces;
- gives a long-lasting effect;
- kills bacteria;
- penetrates into hard-to-reach places.
This method of odor elimination is safe for humans and animals. However, you cannot be in the apartment at the time of cleaning. It is not recommended to leave food and personal hygiene items there.
Subtleties of hand washing
Hand washing is considered quite simple. In this case, it should be divided into a number of successive stages:
- Before washing, rinse items thoroughly using running water. You should not use soap at this stage.
- Take water into a container and dissolve the powder there.
- Rub the contaminated areas with soap and soak in a container with the solution for half an hour.
- Carry out washing as usual. However, it is not recommended to make significant efforts. If the stains are fresh and everything is done correctly, the dirt will come off on its own.
- Rinse items in cool water. However, it needs to be changed from time to time. It is important to ensure that the latter is absolutely transparent.
- Finally, the items need to be wrung out and dried.
Possible associated symptoms
The disease can only be suspected if there are accompanying symptoms of foul-smelling stool:
- Changes in other stool parameters (color, consistency, cellular and biochemical composition). Indicates a digestion disorder at the level of enzymatic deficiency.
- The appearance of pathological impurities (blood, mucus, foamy layers, fibrin films). They indicate the presence of an infectious process or the formation of erosions and ulcerations (blood), inflammation of hemorrhagic nodes.
- Abdominal pain. A frequent nonspecific syndrome, which can be either the result of organic pathology or a sign of functional disorders in irritable bowel syndrome.
- Flatulence. Indicates the activation of fermentation processes and an imbalance between pathogenic and non-pathogenic intestinal flora.
