Features and characteristics of thermofin insulation

Termofin is a kind of analogue of synthetic fur. They are similar in their properties and characteristics. The first is used for the production of various types of clothing - from demi-season jackets to winter equipment used in extreme conditions, at especially low temperatures. It's thinner so it's easier to wear. Read about rocking mattresses here.

What kind of material

Termofin is a new generation of insulation; it has been produced using Finnish technology at the Russian enterprise Termoreal since 2009. The filler is used for sewing winter and demi-season outerwear.

In 2013, an improved version of the Termofinn Plus material was released. It goes through calendering after which the processes of fiber migration become minimal.

In 2014, production of termofinn micro began. The insulation consists of ultra-thin fibers with a diameter of 10 microns. They are 50 times thinner than a human hair. The material not only retains heat perfectly, but also allows air to pass through. All types of termofinna do not accumulate static electricity.

We figured out what thermofin is, now let's look at the difference between it and other popular insulation materials.

Alpolux is made from a mixture of merino wool and synthetic fibers. Canvas with a density of 200 g/m2 warms at minus 30°C. In terms of heat-preserving properties, it is not inferior to termofinnу, but costs an order of magnitude more.

A jacket made of synthetic padding (density 300 g/m2) keeps you warm in cold weather down to minus 20°C: it is inferior to termofinnu. The filler also shrinks more after washing.

Isosoft is the lightest of insulation materials: it is made from hollow balls. A jacket with a filling density of 330 g/m2 keeps you warm in frosts down to minus 25°C. In terms of thermal insulation properties, it is slightly inferior to termofinnu.

Composition: what is thermofin insulation made from?

It is made of highly twisted and bicomponent fibers. They are similar to swan feathers, but are a completely synthetic material. Insulating non-woven fabric is made from polyester and consists of a huge number of tiny polyester-based fibers. Small voids in the structure of the material ensure its lightness and breathability. The small size of the cavities prevents moisture from entering.

During production, the bundles are shaped into a slightly spiral shape, which gives them greater flexibility. This allows the insulation to retain its shape for a long time, preventing the fibers from sticking and tangling. The material acts as an insulator due to the formation of an air gap in the spirals.

Making thermofinn

High-tech production is fully automated. All work processes are controlled by computers. The raw materials are conventional and biocomponent fibers. The latter consist of a polyester core and a low-melting shell. Both types of fibers enter the conveyor in the required proportion. This mixture is carefully combed, as a result of which the fiber becomes absolutely even.

The next stage of production is melting in a special furnace. When heated, the shell of the biocomponent fiber twists and, attaching to conventional fibers, creates a three-dimensional structure. This is a very important process. The quality of the future insulation depends on the correct temperature and calculated melting time. If the parameters are chosen incorrectly, the material may turn out to be either too hard or unacceptably loose.

The finished blade passes through the cutting shafts. Here it acquires a smooth edge and becomes uniform in width. The parts are cut using a laser meter. The product is ready. Immediately before being sent to the customer, it will undergo vacuumization. This will maintain the required structure and softness of Thermofinn.

Production: how thermofin insulation is produced

Highly twisted fibers make up 85% of the total weight, and bicomponent fibers, respectively, 15%. They form the basis and shell of future thermal insulation. Production is carried out on high-precision machines, which allows you to automate the process and almost completely eliminate the human factor from the process.

Due to the high degree of fire resistance, the core remains intact. Thanks to this processing, a material with a three-dimensional structure with a large number of air chambers is obtained.

Advantages and disadvantages

Termofin is an almost ideal insulation material; its advantages include:

  • softness, elasticity, lightness;
  • high air conductivity;
  • waterproof;
  • durability. The material does not lose its properties for 10 years;
  • high degree of heat retention. Filler with a density of 200 is operated at a temperature of minus 50°C;
  • does not accumulate static electricity;
  • does not cause allergies.

The material shows a minimum shrinkage of 0.2% after several washes.

Varieties

By variety, they are usually divided into three categories with digital markings:

  • 100 – 1.2 mm thick, holds up to -15C;
  • 150 – 2.2 mm thick, holds up to -22C;
  • 200 – 2.7 mm thick, holds up to -30C.

These options can be combined to form two-layer insulation of the following types:

  • 100+100, 2.4 mm thick, for frosts down to -30C;
  • 100+150, thickness 3.4 mm, for frosts down to -35C;
  • 150+150, 4.4 mm thick, for frosts down to -42C;
  • 200+200, thickness 5.4 mm, withstands frosts down to -55C.

Appropriate labeling from the clothing manufacturer must be placed on the product. Regardless of the number of layers, its care does not change.

The scope of application is quite wide in areas where the ability of insulation to retain heat in cold weather is valued.

What weather is it designed for?

The temperature regime of thermofin depends on its density; the higher it is, the colder the weather the clothing is designed for. The number of layers of filler also plays an important role.

  • Termofin 100 . It is used for demi-season and light winter clothing. Warms at temperatures down to minus 15°C.
  • Termofin 150 . Jackets and coats with such filling retain heat at -22°C.
  • Termofin 200 . Down jackets with such insulation are designed for harsh winters. They prevent freezing at temperatures down to minus 30°C
  • Double layer 100 + 100 . Such a filler will warm you up in frosts down to minus 30°C.
  • Double layer 100 + 150 . This combination is designed for extreme conditions. Clothes are comfortable at minus 35°C.
  • Double layer 150 + 150 . With this filling, workwear is made for workers in the oil industry, traffic police, and construction workers. It is warm even at minus 40°C.
  • Double layer 200 + 200 . The combination allows you to feel comfortable at temperatures down to minus 50°C.

Such indicators make thermofin one of the best insulation materials produced in Russia.

Recommendations for product care

Caring for the insulation is quite simple. Each item or product with a heat protection filter can be washed by machine or by hand. However, it is worth remembering a few rules for caring for such material:

  • wash with gentle wash;
  • Do not use bleach or powder;
  • spin 400-600 rpm;
  • drying away from heat sources, preferably in the air.

If such conditions cannot be met, and the item needs to be washed, it is better to wash it dry, which thermofins tolerate well.

Clean, wash, dry

The insulating material is very easy to clean. It can be dry cleaned. Products made from thermofinn are washed at a temperature of 30°C without the use of bulk detergents and bleaches. It is recommended to squeeze them gently. You need to dry things away from heating devices.

Areas of application

Termofinn is insulation with good thermal conductivity, providing protection from even extreme cold.

The material is used for sewing the following types of clothing:

  • for Sport;
  • for children;
  • special forms.

Termofin is also used for sewing uniforms, hats, and sleeping bags. For a demi-season wardrobe, take an option with a density of 100-150 g/m², for a winter wardrobe - 250-430 g/m².

It is also used as a filler for bedding, and due to its environmental friendliness, it is used to make warm clothes for newborns.

In what areas is it used?

Nowadays thermofin insulation is used in sewing a wide variety of types of clothing. These are city jackets and coats for the off-season and winter, children's jackets and overalls, envelopes for newborns, and sports models. A variety of hats are produced using this insulation. It is popular as a filling for pillows and blankets and a warm layer in sleeping bags.

Manufacturers of workwear and uniforms are the leaders in orders for thermofin for their production. After all, it creates the necessary comfort during operation in a variety of conditions, even extreme ones.

Suits, jackets and overalls for drillers and installers, dockers and logistics handlers, uniforms for guards and security guards - representatives of many professions will appreciate the benefits of products with thermofin.

In workwear for harsh male professions, they also take into account not only a large gradation of weather indicators, but also the physical activity of workers, as well as the duration of their stay in the open air at low temperatures.

Product history

Until recently, almost all synthetic insulation materials were imported from other countries. Accordingly, the cost of finished products was higher. But in 2009, the Russian company decided to borrow Finnish manufacturing technology and produce its own raw materials - Termofin insulation. In this case, high-quality German equipment is used. Production facilities are located in the Moscow region. That is, everything is to the highest standard and in accordance with European standards.

Finland is a Scandinavian country where winters are no less severe than in Russia. Therefore, Finnish specialists are constantly working on various innovations that contribute to greater comfort when the thermometer needle drops below zero.

Children's products

This insulation is especially recommended for sewing clothes for newborns. It is absolutely safe for the health of babies. “Termofin” even has a special certificate “Eco-Tex Standard 100” for the 1st category of goods, confirming this.

In addition, children's clothing with Termofin insulation, in particular overalls and autumn-winter jackets for children, are especially practical to wear, because the clothes do not create the effect of a spacesuit, but on the contrary, the child can move freely, run, jump, and play snowballs and do other winter pranks.

What can you sew from thermofinn?

Thermofinn is an almost universal material, since it can be used both for everyday needs and for exceptional, extreme ones.

It can be found especially often in the following products:

  • Light demi-season and warm winter clothes, including hats for adults and children of any age;
  • Professional clothing for security guards, military, police and other people working in the cold, including outdoors in winter;
  • Sleeping bags and other travel or sports equipment;
  • Mattresses, pillows, blankets, as well as various accessories for babies, including carriers and warm covers for strollers.

High-tech production

[ads1] The company , owner of the Termofinn® brand, organized in the Odintsovo district of the Moscow region an ultra-modern automated production line with a length of 100 meters, which occupies 2 floors of a building and meets the requirements of Western standards.

The Termofinn manufacturing process, which is precise down to the minute, absolutely eliminates the influence of the human factor. Stages of unique production:

  1. First, the raw materials are supplied to the conveyor, where an accurate computer measurement of the amount of components takes place and they are mixed in a strictly fixed percentage.
  2. Vertical and, most importantly, horizontal (only from this Russian textile manufacturer) combing of fibers. The procedure gives the mass evenness and vertical, visible in cross-section, ordering of the fibers (approximately 80%). Due to this, Termofinn receives volume and low thermal conductivity.
  3. Melting in an oven at a certain temperature. The shell of the biocomponent fiber, when heated, twists and glues with conventional fibers, forming a three-dimensional three-dimensional structure. It is very important not to overheat the fibers, otherwise the output will be hard insulation and vice versa.
  4. Trimming the edges of the finished material using cutting shafts. Thanks to it, Termofinn rolls have a clear width, which is very convenient for cutting. The laser meter then adjusts the length of the web specified by the computer program down to the centimeter.
  5. Vacuum packaging of the goods is provided before direct shipment to the warehouse, which preserves the softness and structure of the insulation and protects it from caking.

Positive properties

Termofin is a modern insulation for clothing with many positive properties.

The material is soft, since during manufacturing there is no such stage as calendering. Thermofin does not pass between hot rolls to increase density and reduce thickness.

Low thermal conductivity ensures good heat retention. Moreover, the higher the density, the more severe the weather you can wear a product with this type of filler.
