Photo: static.dom.by

The bed linen washes well, does not fade (I have been using three sets for more than three years), irons well, and does not shrink after washing. And the prices are even more pleasing - an order of magnitude lower than other manufacturers. I recommend."

The products meet the highest quality standards. Monolith bed linen can be bought at any bedroom supply store - for this we should give credit to the marketers and the dealer network.

- All fabrics are 100% cotton
- Relatively inexpensive price
- After washing, the laundry does not shrink, fade or fade
- Quite thick fabric (needs ironing)
- Durable and wear-resistant
- Very beautiful packaging (great as a gift)
Minuses:
- On some bed linen models, labels are sewn onto the front side
From reviews of “Monolit” bedding made from calico:
“I purchased a set of soft light green color 4 years ago, and to be honest, I’m still glad that I made the right choice. Over the years, the set, fortunately, has not been washed out or faded much; in any case, its colors remain pleasant. The bed linen is distinguished by very high quality and even seams (I’m certainly not an expert, but in my layman’s opinion the seams are impeccable.).”
Lux
Sets of linen made from cambric, jacquard or silk are much more expensive. But the service life of these kits is quite long. They will be an excellent gift for a wedding, anniversary or other significant event. Spending money will not be in vain.
Batiste
Batiste looks very elegant and gentle.
Previously, the linen was made from twisted flax fibers by hand and was very expensive. Today cambric is much more accessible. Its only drawback is its fragility, since the material is very thin. Therefore, it is recommended to use it only when sewing pillowcases and duvet covers. Sheets wear out much faster, so it makes sense to replace them with more durable satin ones.
Jacquard
Jacquard fabric is covered with beautiful relief patterns. They are formed due to the dense weave of cotton threads. Nowadays synthetic fibers are also used.
Some may have doubts about the comfort of jacquard underwear, because convex patterns do not always feel pleasant on the skin. However, there is no discomfort. The fabric is soft, durable, easily allows air to pass through, absorbs moisture, creating thermoregulation. A luxurious bed will make the interior of your bedroom unique and give you a pleasant, sound sleep.
Satin Lux
Luxury satin differs from regular satin in the high quality of raw materials. It can be natural, artificial or mixed. Dense, smooth, shiny fabric is dyed with environmentally friendly dyes, which makes this linen suitable for allergy sufferers. The bed will retain its color and shape even after intensive washing in hot water. Ironing the material is not difficult; creases do not form on the surface.
Silk
Silk underwear has become a symbol of wealth and prosperity. Not every housewife would risk buying an expensive set for everyday use. The delicate material looks fragile and capricious. It requires special care: washing on a delicate cycle, temperature no more than 30 degrees, extremely careful ironing. It's a hassle, but the beauty of the fabric makes up for all the downsides.
Not everyone likes to sleep on a sliding cool surface. After all, silk belongs to the “ceremonial-weekend” options. The set can be given to newlyweds or newlyweds.
Only natural silk has good quality. The imitation material will give you unpleasant surprises in the form of puffs, pellets and charges of static electricity. Do not forget to carefully study the composition on the label so as not to buy a fake for a lot of money.
Atlas
Satin fabric is a type of silk with a glossy shiny surface. The advantages of the material are its beauty and environmental friendliness. It is difficult to care for satin, and it is cold to sleep. It will be useful in hot weather - it will pleasantly cool the body and absorb excess moisture.
In everyday life, atlas is capricious. You will have to wash and iron it carefully. We can say that such things are contraindicated in a house where there are cats: one accidental puff will instantly ruin an expensive set.

Linear and surface density - what is it?
Surface density refers to the weight per square meter of fabric, measured in grams. For example, cotton fabric may have a minimum surface density of 55 grams (cambric), or 250 grams (premium quality sateen). Surface density is one of the most important indicators affecting the wear resistance of a material.
Linear density indicates the number of threads in one square centimeter (according to the international classification in square inch - TS). 50-70 TC is the lowest thread density, 200-280 TC is very high. The higher the linear density and the more threads there are per unit area of the fabric, the stronger it is. The linear density of jacquard is very high, which is why it is characterized by increased wear resistance.
Vasilisa - the best inexpensive bedding

Rating: 10 out of 10.
Average price: 1055 rub.
Produced in the city of Ivanovo, Vasilisa bed linen has earned a reputation for quality, practical and inexpensive. The company is more than 10 years old. “Vasilisa” is just one of the few brands produced by TDL Textile LLC: there are also “Aura”, “Eco”, “Vasilek”. In addition, one of the directions of TDL Textile LLC is the production of dressing materials.
Pros:
- The most inexpensive bed linen (often sold on special offers in large retail chains)
- Very bright drawing
- Does not fade, does not lose color, is easy to iron
- Even after prolonged use, the laundry does not tear, does not form pills, or shrinks
- Linen is sewn strictly according to size
From reviews of “Vasilisa” bedding made from calico:
“Excellent prints, bright colors, nothing comes out when washing, does not fade, does not roll, does not stain (unless, of course, you wash it with socks and observe the temperature regime). Always sewn straight. A distinctive feature is the seam at the bottom of the duvet cover, tucked in from the bottom. The fabric is gorgeous. Well, of course, I feel like I’m spinning like a top at night. I straighten it in the morning, stretch it and everything returns to its natural form. How many sets I had - they all served for a very long time and simply gradually lost the appearance and strength of the fabric, but not a single one completely tore.”
How to distinguish silk from fake
The only accurate way to determine natural silk is to set fire to a thread or piece of fabric. The fake immediately catches fire. At the same time, it begins to smoke heavily and smell like burnt rubber or plastic.
Combustion of synthetics
Burning fake
When synthetics burn, molten combustion products are formed that cannot be crushed with your fingers. The edge of the fabric hardens.
Formation of solid combustion products
Natural silk does not ignite easily. It quickly extinguishes when the source of fire is removed. This produces the smell of burnt chicken feathers or hair.

After combustion, soft coals are formed. They are easy to remove with your fingers or rub in your palm.

For some reason, I especially liked the pillowcases with ruffles. Well, not in a Soviet way, but in a good sense, bourgeois. I bought several sets. I would especially like to note the jacquard underwear - it’s a fairy tale, it looks royal - expensive and luxurious! I also liked the set with embroidery. For the nursery I also found good bedding for the child. Funny drawings, bright colors - my daughter is happy! I have been using this linen for three years now and wash it in a washing machine and dryer. The colors have not faded over the years, the linen is like new.”
General information
Sleep is a key factor for proper human functioning. When he is strong and calm, a large amount of energy will be retained throughout the day. Bedding has a direct impact on how long it lasts, as it helps to relax the body and provide comfort. However, this cannot be said about every manufacturer. Some fabrics are deliberately diluted with synthetic fibers, which cause an allergic reaction and reduce wear resistance. Often, the material is painted using low-grade dyes, which lose their color after the first wash. To know what good bedding to buy, you need to pay attention to the details:
- made from natural materials (often 100% cotton);
- popular manufacturer;
- does not fade during washing;
- optimal density.
Bed linen is required in every home. Taking into account the interior, it will create a special atmosphere in the room and complement the overall look. Most developers produce various colors: from monotonous to a combination of bright shades. There are various companies on the market that produce underwear with excellent reviews. Such kits comply with European standards and guarantee positive emotions to the owner. To make the choice easier, a list of the best bedding brands has been created, which is compiled taking into account the characteristics of buyers.

From reviews of “Cleo” satin bed linen:
“I liked it as soon as I opened the box. Very clear, rich pattern, the fabric is soft, smooth, dense. Duvet cover and pillowcases with zippers, all 4 pillowcases with “ears”. I quickly washed it, first on the “gentle” wash (everything was as taught) - all the colors remained in place. On the first night, though, it was a little stinging from the fabric, apparently it was still new, but then it all went away. The set has now gone through 10 washes. Keep up the good work! All the lines, the whole drawing, everything is in place.”
Criterias of choice
How to choose the right kit? If you take into account all the nuances, you will make a profitable purchase for the next 10 years or find a good and necessary gift for any celebration. It is important that you like the bedding in appearance and feel pleasant to the touch, because this is the first thing you will see when you wake up. It is also important to consider the size, composition and density of the fabric, the type of fastenings on the sheets and fasteners on the duvet cover and pillowcase.
Kinds
Types of underwear are inextricably linked with sizes. Each of the 6 sizes comes with its own set:
- Family or “duet” includes two pillowcases, a sheet and two one-and-a-half duvet covers. A great option for partners who have battles for the blanket at night or feel the cold differently. One partner might have a very warm blanket in their duvet cover, while the other might have a lighter option.
- Maxi or king size are two standard pillowcases, a duvet cover and a very large sheet, for example, 240x260. Such sets are designed for those who love large blankets, or for a couple who still wants to sleep under one model and chooses a large size. You can rarely find king-size underwear in Russia; it is more popular abroad.
- Euro-size has a bright distinctive feature - a duvet cover 200x220. The set includes: a sheet, a duvet cover and two rectangular pillowcases, but sometimes the set also includes two square pillowcases measuring 70x70. This size came from the West, where it is customary to make a bed with 4 pillows. 2 of them are used for relaxation as a support to read a book or watch TV in bed.
- The double set is focused on the sizes of Russian blankets, the most popular of which is 175x215. The set includes one duvet cover, a sheet and two pillowcases. Usually they are 70x70, because square pillows have always been more popular in Russia. But recently, even this size is increasingly equipped with rectangular pillowcases.
- The one-and-a-half set includes one element each: a pillowcase, a duvet cover and a sheet. It got its name from a duvet cover about 150 cm. Suitable for a woman, a man of average height and even a child. Some parents, when preparing their child for school, also buy one-and-a-half size underwear instead of the usual children's size, since they consider the first-grader to be already an adult.
- Children's underwear is divided into two types. The nursery is used from birth to 3 years; in addition to standard elements, the set may include bed rails, a canopy and other cute elements. One-and-a-half-sized children's underwear is suitable for a child up to 10 years old; it is no different from the adult version, just a little smaller in size.
Traditionally, the set includes several pillowcases, a duvet cover and a sheet. In children's sets, the sheet is often with an elastic band, while in adults it is regular, so that it is suitable for a mattress of any height. Sometimes the set does not include a sheet at all, so you can choose the right option: with an elastic band, straight, for a round mattress or for a very high one.
Materials
What bedding should I buy? It is important to consider not only the fabric, but also the sewing method. These parameters are easy to confuse: cotton, silk, linen are fabrics, and satin, cambric, percale are a method of weaving threads. Therefore, some people imagine artificial fabric with a characteristic shine under satin bed linen, although satin can be made from 100% cotton.
Cotton
This fabric, familiar from childhood, is used in the production of 90% of bed linen. The secret of such popularity is that cotton is quite durable, breathable, does not cause allergies and is affordable. However, the fabric also has its drawbacks: it does not release moisture well, so it takes a long time to dry after washing and is not suitable for people with excessive sweating. What should cotton underwear be like? It can be sewn in different ways, here are the most popular ones:
Calico
Home textiles, bed linen and kitchen utensils are produced from affordable but not the most durable calico. Almost never used for clothing. In the photo: Bed linen Magic forest Ethel
Calico is woven using simple and high-quality plain weaving, so the fabric turns out matte and uniform. Its characteristics depend on density: models 105-124 g per square meter. m are translucent, vaguely resemble gauze and do not hold dyes well. The optimal density is 142 g per square meter. m. You can also find higher densities; such calico will last a long time, holds dyes well, but is also close in price to more premium fabrics.
Chintz
Many people associate it with summer dresses with small flowers, which were worn in Soviet times.
Calico, just like calico, is produced using plain weaving, but calico is a coarser and harder material due to the special processing of the fabric. Chintz is so soft and pleasant to the touch that bedding for newborns is often made from it. However, the fabric is short-lived and loses color after 20 washes. In order to avoid this, wise housewives advise rinsing clothes in vinegar before washing. And business women can safely say goodbye to the chintz set within a year, because it is one of the most budget-friendly fabrics.
Poplin
Fabric with a characteristic rib does not need to be ironed, but due to this structure it is difficult to dye. In the photo: Children's bedding Promtex-Orient Orient Mosaic
Poplin is also woven using regular plain weave, but threads of different thicknesses are used. Therefore, the material acquires an interesting relief surface with small ridges and remains affordable. The fabric allows air to pass through well, is pleasant to the touch and hardly wrinkles, but does not hold dyes well. Typically, poplin is sewn from dyed threads and mostly monochromatic sets are obtained.
Satin
Satin made from artificial threads looks very similar to silk; 100% cotton is used to produce this fabric in the premium segment. Pictured: Luxberry Daily Bedding
For the production of satin linen, 100% cotton is most often used. The fabric has a subtle sheen and a very strong twisted weave, where the auxiliary threads do not pass in a checkerboard pattern through the warp, but skip in 3-5 positions. The smooth, dense surface accepts dyes well, and prints on it are clearer. Cotton sateen is highly valued for its smoothness and strength, which is why premium segment underwear is made from it.
Terry (terry cloth)
First association: terry robe and bath towels. Most often, sheets and summer bedspreads are made from this fabric. In the photo: Waterproof pillowcase Natures “Li-Ly” Aqua
Terry linen is soft, rough and textured to the touch. The pile is quite short, but dense. Typically, terry underwear is made from bamboo or cotton with the addition of a small amount of synthetic additives, which help the loops to stand. The more loops per square meter, the softer, warmer the product and has a slight peeling effect. Doesn't wrinkle.
Flannel
Think flannel shirt. Very warm and velvety linen is usually used in winter or for sewing children's sets. In the photo: Natures children's bedding made of flannel “Li-Ly” White and Blue
If you've ever worn a flannel shirt, you know how soft and warm the fabric is. This type of underwear is made from cotton with even pile. It is almost impossible to see, but you can easily feel it: the fabric is very warm and dense. Therefore, flannel underwear is best suited for winter, as well as for children. Before washing, it is important to remember that flannel takes a very long time to dry due to its increased density. If it is humid outside, it can dry for 2-3 days. Therefore, the fabric is not suitable for people with excessive sweating. But you don't need to iron it.
Percale
Fabric for premium linen. One of the most durable, but at the same time soft and pleasant to the body. In the photo: Luxberry Classic bed linen
The first parachutes, sails and skins for aircraft were made from wear-resistant and durable fabric. Nowadays percale is used not only in the production of bed linen, but also for pillow covers and blankets. There is constant friction against these surfaces, so the fabric of the cover must be very durable. Percale has a regular plain weave, like calico, chintz or poplin, but its threads are not twisted, but glued together with a special compound. Therefore, percale easily withstands hundreds of washes without becoming covered with pills. And at the same time, the fabric is soft, smooth and pleasant to the touch.
Other natural materials
Cotton is the most popular, but not the only natural material that I use when sewing bed linen. For example, when it comes to pleasant tactile sensations, nothing compares to silk. And only bamboo can save a person with severe sweating.
Silk
When choosing this luxurious linen, pay attention to the type of silk: mulberry lasts about 20 years, and tussah - 6-7. In the photo: All-season blanket Great Silk Grass dot quilted
In recent years, there has been a real boom in silk pillowcases in the beauty industry. Many stores have appeared on Instagram that claim that silk contains the natural protein fibroin, which retains 8 times more moisture than any other material. Of course, fibrion will not get into the deep layers of the skin through a silk pillowcase, but silk underwear will really save you from wrinkles on your face after sleep. Among other things, many dermatologists recommend that people with sensitive and inflammation-prone skin sleep on such a pillowcase, because silk is hypoallergenic. And silk sets are premium, and therefore simply very beautiful and pleasant to the body.
Linen
The best option for hot weather. Choose models with stonewash treatment: they are softer and do not need to be ironed. Pictured: Luxberry Bedroom Line bedding
It is difficult to find a fabric that will be more pleasant in the heat than linen. It perfectly allows air to pass through and prevents a person from sweating, and if this happens, linen quickly absorbs and evaporates moisture. Some people are afraid to buy linen because of the density and slight roughness of the fabric. And they do it completely in vain! Linen for bed linen undergoes stonewash treatment, after which it becomes soft and acquires a stylish wrinkled effect. The latter solves the problem of steaming the fabric, because linen is very difficult to iron. Premium fabric is difficult to dye, so underwear is most often produced either in natural beige or in solid shades.
Bamboo
A natural and budget option for the summer. Doesn't wrinkle. In the photo: Espera Bamboo Lux pillowcase
Due to its mid-price segment and service life, bamboo underwear resembles cotton. But bamboo stands out favorably in terms of hygroscopicity: it quickly absorbs and evaporates moisture, and therefore is perfect for hot summer nights and for people with heavy sweating. This material is also chosen by those who care about the planet, because bamboo grows at a speed of 75 cm per day and has natural bactericidal properties, so it is not treated against pests. Bamboo threads have no smell, and the antibacterial properties of the plant are preserved.
Viscose
Linen is not made entirely from viscose; usually about 30% is added to cotton. This admixture makes the fabric more elastic and durable. In the photo: Sofi de Marko Tiara blanket set
Viscose is often confused with cotton. Cotton is entirely of plant origin, while viscose is made from natural cellulose, which means its production requires several chemical processes. Linen made from 100% viscose is almost never found; it is usually added to cotton or bedding sets are made from a variety of viscose materials. For example, tencel is a eucalyptus fiber that is similar to bamboo in its antibacterial and hygroscopic properties. Or modala (wood pulp), which is also often used to make underwear.
Synthetic fabrics
Today, artificial fiber has nothing to do with the terrible word synthetics. Like natural materials, it is pleasant to the skin and allows it to breathe, only it is cheaper, shines beautifully, and does not require ironing or special care during washing.
Polyester
A budget option with a characteristic silk shine. There are polyester and cotton blend options. In the photo: Sofi de Marko bedspread Yvette
Typically, sets with royal patterns, an abundance of arabesques and other small details are made on smooth fabric using polyester, because on any other material the contours will not be so clear. Polyester underwear looks very impressive and weighs little, but sleeping under it can be hot because it accumulates static electricity and does not absorb moisture. Therefore, mixed fabrics are often used. The most popular combination: polyester with cotton and polyester with viscose. Artificial fiber makes the fabric durable, gives a satin shine and does not allow the fabric to wrinkle, and natural materials are responsible for breathability.
Microfiber
Microfiber most often refers not to a specific fabric, but to the method of making the fabric. In the photo: All-season blanket 60C Familie Stop Allergy
It got its name because of the size of the fibers; its thread is 100 times thinner than a human hair. Microfiber is usually made from artificial fiber, but it may also contain cotton. The linen is velvety soft, highly breathable and resistant to stains. Patterns are scattered across the canvas, because the fabric holds dyes well and clearly prints the outline. 100% microfiber is used to make underwear and cleaning supplies, and is used as an additive in bed linen. The properties of pure microfiber are not entirely suitable for bedding sets; it is dense, even a little heavy, stretches well and fits the shape.
Luxury fabrics
Expensive bed linen can last 20 years, but you need to understand that prices for a double set start at 15,000 rubles. How to define quality? To produce luxury linen, they use the most expensive fabrics with high density (silk, long-staple cotton) and weaving methods that were invented for royalty (cambric, jacquard). Good premium lingerie is produced by Luxberry and Sofi de Marko.
Eucalyptus fiber (tencel)
Tencel resembles 100% cotton satin, but causes 100 times less harm to nature. In the photo: Bed linen Sofi de Marko Violet
The smooth fabric with a slight satin sheen and natural bactericidal properties has become especially popular in recent years. Its secret is that eucalyptus threads are similar to cotton threads, but the southern tree requires much less watering than cotton. Tencel is produced in the same way as viscose: from natural eucalyptus fiber, which must be processed using several chemical processes. The fiber has good bactericidal, hygroscopic and breathable qualities. Unlike fragrant eucalyptus oil, the threads are odorless. Micro Tencel is stronger, softer and more durable than regular Tencel.
Batiste
It was cambric that was used to make wedding dresses, baptismal shirts and underwear for aristocrats. In the photo: All-season blanket Organic Down Grass
It is difficult to describe the situation so that most people remember where they touched cambric, because this method of weaving fabric is almost impossible to find among household items. It is velvety to the touch, slightly rough and surprisingly durable. It is woven using a regular plain weave, but with thin and twisted threads. The peculiarity is that the threads must be the same length and thickness. To do this, cotton is grown using a special wooden structure made of pegs and crossbars. The raw material used is either regular cotton or its premium variety – the Egyptian mako variety.
Japanese silk or Mulberry silk
Mulberry silkworm threads do not require chemical treatments. They learned how to work with them best in Japan, when they created silk kimonos for geishas
There are two types of silk: tussah (wild silkworm) or mulberry (kept in special conditions). Mulberry fibers are considered premium: silkworms feed on the leaves of one tree, and their threads are uniform. The cocoons of caterpillars only need to be untangled; they do not require chemical treatments and retain all their natural properties. They learned to work best with this type of silk in Japan, because for several centuries geisha kimonos were made from this material. Serves for about 20 years.
Jacquard-satin
The fabric took a silky shine from satin for the background, and a luxurious embroidered pattern from jacquard. In the photo: Luxberry Medalion bed linen
Bedspreads or decorative pillowcases are woven entirely from jacquard, but not linen. This fabric is distinguished by its rich design, chic look and consistent embroidered pattern. First, the background is woven using plain weave, and the pattern is embroidered on top. Therefore, jacquard is dense, thick, textured and not entirely suitable for linen. A solution was found quickly: instead of a linen backing, soft and glossy satin is used, and a jacquard pattern is applied on top. Jacquard-satin fabric is very luxurious, durable and pleasant to the body.
Mako-satin and mako-batiste (Egyptian cotton)
The prefix mako to sateen or cambric means that the fabric is made from premium, long-staple Egyptian cotton. In the photo: Espera Satini Ricamo bedding set
Cotton comes in different qualities, but the king among them is the long-staple mako variety from Egypt. The length of ordinary cotton is about 20 mm, and for the Egyptian variety this figure reaches 45. The longer the fibers, the lighter, thinner and more wear-resistant the fabric is. However, the distinctive features of the mako variety do not end there: unlike ordinary cotton, this fabric dries very quickly, does not form pills and does not require ironing.
Dimensions
For linen there are 6 sizes. One and a half, double, euro, children's - everyone is familiar. But few people know about the existence of maxi (or “king size”) and family sizes with two duvet covers (or “duet”).
Before purchasing, we advise you to double-check the dimensions and accessories. Under the same name there may be sets with 2 or 4 pillowcases or with a difference in duvet cover length of 5-10 cm. There are no clear parameters for each size. Some brands, for example Espera, add 25 centimeters in width to the duvet cover, as the linen shrinks. And Sofi de Marko produce sets with two square and two rectangular pillowcases or with a blanket-plaid that can be used without a duvet cover.
After World War II, due to a shortage of fabric, a new size of linen appeared: single. In terms of parameters, it was more reminiscent of children's sets, very narrow and short, so it is almost impossible to find it today.

Density
The density of the fabric determines how long the underwear will last. It can be calculated in two ways. On the labels of Russian manufacturers, surface density is most often indicated: grams per square meter. But this method has a slight error due to the actual weight of the thread. For example, an affordable terry set weighs more than Japanese silk, but this does not mean that the terry is better. Therefore, the international standard is the linear density TC (Thread counts), which shows the number of threads, and not their weight (the number of threads per 1 inch or 2.54 cm). The density table is similar to the hierarchy in the price segment.
Name of fabric/weave type | Density according to the world standard TC |
Calico | 70 |
Chintz | 100 |
Poplin | 120 |
Linen | 150 |

Bed linen: what to please yourself with?
Bed linen is the basis for healthy sleep. And the choice of this basis should be approached with all responsibility.
When choosing the best bed linen, you should be guided only by personal preferences - a conservative lover of calico is unlikely to be able to fully relax on silk, and an elderly person will not be delighted with a black set. You can also listen to the recommendations of sellers (if, of course, they inspire confidence). And of course, the third aspect of choice is personal finance. You should not buy a luxurious jacquard set if it is difficult for your wallet - it is better to buy 3 sets of practical satin or chintz and feel like you are in charge of the situation.
In any case, good luck in your choice and sweet dreams!
Dimensions
Inconsistency in the size of bedding items leads to discomfort during sleep. If the bed linen is smaller than the size of the pillow, blanket or mattress, then folds and creases will form, causing a lot of inconvenience. If the size is too large, it is easy to get tangled in the duvet cover or get your hand caught in the pillowcase. To simplify the selection of bed linen, special standards have been developed that all products included in the set must meet.
There are several types of bed linen:
- single,
- one and a half,
- double,
- eurostandard,
- family,
- children's,
- for newborns.
For each type, there are standard sizes of pillowcases, sheets and duvet covers.
