Table of error codes for Ariston washing machines with a display

Fault code.Description of the breakdown. The reason for the error.Checking and troubleshooting.
F1, F01.The washing machine blocked the hatch and then filled with water. After that, an error was displayed and nothing else happens. Sometimes it may appear during one of the washing cycles, but in the future it always appears at the beginning.
  • Short circuit in the washing machine motor control circuit.
  • Program or firmware failure.
  • Brush wear.
  • Engine malfunction.
  • The problem is in the control module.
  1. Test the wiring with a multimeter. Repair detected damage
  2. Disconnect the SMA from the network for 10-15 minutes. If it doesn't help, then a flashing is needed.
  3. Check the degree of wear of the brushes. When worn out, replace it.
  4. Install a new brush assembly.
  5. It is possible to repair the electronic module (usually the control triac of the drive motor is on).
F2, F02.After collecting water, the drum begins to rotate, but then stops. Clicks are heard. There is an emergency drain of water.
  • The signal from the tacho sensor about the rotation of the drive motor is not sent to the electronic controller.
  • Engine malfunction.
  • Failure of the tachometer generator.
  • Failure in the control module.
  1. Check the reliability of the electrical connection between the electronic module and the drive motor. If damage is found, it is restored.
  2. Check to see if the drive motor rotor is blocked due to jammed drum bearings or other reasons. If repair is impossible, a new engine is installed.
  3. Look at the electrical resistance of the tachometer generator winding (should be 115...170 Ohms - for SMAs equipped with EVO-I controllers).
  4. Repair or replacement of the electronic board after diagnostics.
F3, F03.It starts to wash, after some time the water emergency drains. It fills up the water again and drains again.
  • The temperature sensor is faulty.
  • Wiring is damaged.
  • Failure in the control module.
  • or the water heating heating element relay is stuck.
  1. Check the electrical resistance of the temperature sensor (should be about 20 kOhm at 20°C). If there is a deviation, change it.
  2. Inspect the reliability of the connections between the electronic module and the temperature sensor. Violations are corrected.
  3. It is possible to repair the controller (usually the water heating relay is faulty). Or buying a new one.
F4, F04.An error appears after the reel starts spinning. Stopping and draining water. The pressure switch simultaneously generates the “OVERFLOW” and “EMPTY TANK” signals. In this case, water is poured into the tank to the “OVERFLOW” level. As a result, it turns out that the fill (the water fill valves are open) and the water drain (the drain pump is turned on) are turned on at the same time.
  • Program crash.
  • Wiring is damaged.
  • The water level sensor is faulty.
  • Electronic controller failure.
  1. Try unplugging the cord from the outlet for 10-30 minutes. If this does not help, then perform the following steps.
  2. Check the reliability of the connection between the electronic module and the level sensor, as well as the sensor itself.
  3. Replace the pressure switch with a working one.

  1. First try turning off the power to the machine for 10-20 minutes and repeating the wash.
  2. Check the reliability of the connection between the module and the drain pump.
  3. Check the pump itself (by supplying 220 V to it) and its connectors. If there is a malfunction, a new one is installed.
  4. Change the pressure switch.
  5. Inspect the filter and drain hose for blockages.
  6. Clean the drain and, above all, the siphon under the sink.

Problems with drainage or water intake

For Ariston washing machines, error codes F05, H20 and F11 appear when the appliance cannot draw water into the drum or the liquid supply does not stop, despite the fact that the tank is full.

Codes F05 or F11

When the device stops executing the program, leaving water in the drum, the error code F05 or F11 is displayed on the display. Attempts to switch the task, i.e. Forcibly draining the liquid does not give any results, and the fault code continues to light up on the display. Failure to execute the program is accompanied by the sound of a pump hum.

Any fault codes that appear indicate a blockage. It can be in the drain hose or filter (hidden behind the hatch located at the bottom of the device). After removing threads and large particles of debris, the electrical appliance will begin to function correctly.

If clearing the blockage does not help, then a breakdown may occur:

  • pump;
  • pressure switch;
  • controller.

Code H2O

Causes of malfunction:

  • poor pressure or lack of water;
  • breakdown of the water intake valve;
  • clogged and faulty pressure switch.

Error codes displayed by lights

Not all Ariston CMAs are equipped with a display, but the manufacturer has provided for displaying error codes using indicator lights. Let's look at the decryption instructions. This is realized by certain diodes. They are marked in the figure below.

Indicators used

Using a sequence of light bulbs, the machine informs about a malfunction. You can decipher the codes using the correspondence table between the codes and the LED combination. It is presented below.

Summary table of Ariston errors

Plus means glow, minus means its absence. For some, this approach causes certain difficulties, so there is an alternative option that can be easily used on models with different control panels.

Here is an alternative error calculation

In this case, you need to add up the numbers that light up. The sum of the values, if there are several of them, forms a failure code.

The letter F (Ф) is simply added to the number.

Features of AVSL 100 repair

Sometimes owners of AVSL 100 machines encounter problems whose solutions are not so obvious:

  1. The washing machine interrupts the program before spinning or rinsing. If the device is disconnected from the network and then turned on again, the unit will complete the process. The likely problem is a faulty drain pump that jams from hot water.
  2. The device freezes during operation and the fault is not detected. After cooling, the washing machine resumes washing. The probable cause is wear of the motor brushes; they need to be replaced with new ones.

In general, malfunctions of washing machines of this series can be considered typical.

Features of AVTF 104 repair

Top loading washing machines such as the AVTF 104 have a number of features:

  1. If water accumulates under the bottom of the machine, not only the tank and various connections may leak, but also the seal at the top.
  2. An imbalance of the unit can lead to spontaneous opening of the hatch flaps. As a result, the heating element may be knocked down, the doors themselves may be broken, and the tank may be damaged.
  3. Vertical machines are distinguished from frontal models by the principle of fastening the drum, which is supported on two axle shafts equipped with two bearings. Accordingly, to replace them it is necessary to remove not the rear part of the unit, but the side panels.

It is worth considering that top-loading models are made in Europe, therefore, replacement parts for them are more expensive and less common.

Setting the washing mode

Initially, the machine is in a standard standby mode, indicated by the “A” indicator, and to start the desired program, you need to use a special command handle.

An indicator in “B” mode indicates that the device is ready to receive a new program, and as soon as it is selected, it is indicated by a “C” indicator. And immediately after that the washing begins. Its execution can be stopped, and to do this you need to turn the program handle to the reset position.

Features of the Margarita 2000 repair

This model was sold back in the 2000s, but you won’t see it on store shelves for a long time. However, in some families it still serves faithfully. Despite the outdated design, the model has a standard design.

There are some nuances during dismantling - the powder receiver of this washing machine does not extend forward, but rotates 450 degrees clockwise, so in addition to the standard two horizontally inserted screws, it is held in the desired position by another vertical one.

Margarita 2000 has a mechanical control; when a malfunction is detected, the command device begins to rotate clockwise. The frequency at which the “On/Off” indicator lights up will help you navigate current malfunctions.

The number of blinks forms an error code, for example, 3 blinks in a row corresponds to F03, two blinks – F02, etc. The pause between series is 4 seconds.

The model is far from new, so its main malfunctions are associated with long-term operation: wear of the electric motor brushes, failure of bearings, inlet valve, drain pump, heating element.

Conclusions on the topic
